Ace of Base, a pop band from Gothenburg, Sweden was formed in 1993 by Ulf “Buddha” Ekberg and the following three family members, Jonas "Joker" Berggren, sisters Malin "Linn" Berggren, Jenny Berggren. Ace of Base was morphed from the Berggren family’s band Tech Noir. Ace of Base disbanded in 2002, not before releasing four studio albums, selling over thirty million copies worldwide. Their first album “Happy Nation/The Sign” went nine times platinum in the Unites States and ten times platinum in Canada. “Happy Nation/The Sign” is the bestselling album recorded by Ace of Base, and is listed among the Top 100 Bestselling Albums of all times by Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). In 2007, Linn Berggren formally left the band amidst speculation that she was not happy with her role after the group signed Mega Records, a Danish Record Label. After her departure Jonas, Jenny and Ulf toured as a trio around Europe and Asia from 2007-2009. In September, 2009, Jenny Berrgren announced via Twitter she would be starting her own solo career. Jonas and Ulf began a quest in 2010 to replace Linn and Jenny with two female singers. The search yielded two singers, Clara Hagman (born, July 9th 1991) the Swedish Idol winner in 2009. Ace of Base released a new record “The Gold Ratio” in 2010 with some good reviews. Many diehard fans suggested that Ace of Base change their name to represent the new make of the band.
