AFI To Split? Management Insist Singer Davey Havok's Statement Is A Hoax

September 8th, 2011 9:55pm EDT
AFI
Mystery surrounds the future of rockers AFI after the band's management denied reports of a split just hours after frontman Davey Havok announced the break-up online.

Havok took to the band's Despairfaction forum to let fans know the group was splitting.

The "Miss Murder" singer's written statement read, "This is the end. Sorry, but AFI is done. After more than 15 years of being together, we as a band have decided to disband AFI... There will be no more AFI albums or shows.

"We have matured and have other things in life that we would like to attend to. Please forgive us for the random st...

Concert Review: AFI At The Riviera Theater, Chicago, Nov. 7

November 9th, 2009 6:00pm EST
AFI concert review
"I can die happy now." Those words came out of the mouth of a sixteen year old girl I befriended at Saturday's AFI show at the Riviera Theater in Chicago. I couldn't help but smile. The show really was that good. Watching Davey, Jade, Hunter, and Adam up on that stage with so much vivacity…it's hard to believe they've been making music for 18 years. They poured all of themselves into the show and made for one hell of an evening.

Starting off as an East Bay hardcore band, AFI has evolved through many stages in their long history, showing shades of pop-punk and electronica in recent ye...

AFI New Album

Produced by Joe McGrath (Alkaline Trio, Green Day) and Jacknife Lee (U2, Weezer), "Crash Love" is possibly AFI's most focused, direct and ambitious effort to date. "I am so proud of this record. I really believe it's the best AFI record. It honestly feels like we've made our first truly timeless record. Some find it sexy and attractive, while others find it downright disgraceful; but in either case there are plenty of guys doing it lately. While our first article may have taken a positive slant on the issue at hand, this writer is only creeped out by these men who are obviously more concerned with their image than anything else.
