ABC is an English New Wave band that formed in 1978 when vocalist Martin Fry wrote an article on the band for a local magazine. Then known as Vice Versa, Fry was asked to join the group as keyboard player. He quickly took the role as lead vocalist accompanying co-songwriter and guitarist Mark White, saxophonist Stephen Singleton and David Robinson on drums. In 1981 ABC released the single “Tears Are Not Enough” which became a Top 20 hit in the U.K. charts and a prelude to the hugely successful debut album “The Lexicon of Love” which reached #1 in the U.K. and #24 in the U.S. charts.
