Harry Potter Casts a Spell on Movie Audiences

Goblet of FireNot surprisingly, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire dominated the box office this weekend. Fans went to theaters in droves to watch Harry, Hermione, and Ron in the fourth film of the popular franchise. The movie grossed over $101 million, making it the fourth largest three-day opening weekend following Spider-Man ($114 million) and Star Wars: Episode III and Shrek 2 (both $108 million).

Chicken Little Maintains #1 Status at Box Office

Chicken LittleChicken Little dominated the box office again in its second weekend, taking in $32 million from movie audiences. Zathura, another kid-targeted film, came in second place with $14 million. The thriller Derailed starring Jennifer Aniston and Clive Owen opened in third place with $12.8 million. Get Rich or Die Tryin'Hip-hop star 50 Cent makes his movie debut in Get Rich or Die Tryin’, a hard-edged urban drama inspired by the rapper's own life. The film is about an inner city drug dealer (50 Cent) who leaves crime behind to pursue his passion: rap music. Derailed centers on an illicit love affair between Charles (Clive Owen) and Lucinda (Jennifer Aniston) that goes terribly wrong. When a criminal learns about their indiscretion, he blackmails the unfaithful couple.
