'The Woman In Black' Joins Ranks Of Horrible Hammer Horror

February 3rd, 2012 11:00am EST
The Woman In Black
Several years ago, when I saw the stage version of Susan Hill’s novel “The Woman in Black,” it pleasantly surprised me, as a truly frightening experience that stuck with me. Sadly I can’t say the same about its big screen adaptation starring Daniel Radcliffe. This James Watkins film is the hardest I’ve laughed at a horror movie in a long time.

“The Woman in Black” marks the fifth picture since 2008, made by the revived British company Hammer Films. Stylistically it's a return to the gothic horror that cemented actors Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee as staples of the genre for Hammer in...

Trailer Talk: This Week in Movies
Sadly last week I had to miss “The Grey” due to some other commitments that popped up. I was excited to see it, so I’ll try and get to it soon. However as promised, I did post my interview with “Man on a Ledge” star Elizabeth Banks. Definitely give it a read if you haven’t already.

This week horror dominates the lineup at the box office with the Daniel Radcliffe period piece “The Woman in Black,” the mysterious sci-fi horror/thriller “Chronicle,” the low-budget haunted house movie “The Innkeepers,” and the sappy whale rescue tale “Big Miracle.”

MY PICK FOR THE WEEK: The Woman in B...

Daniel Radcliffe has warned parents his new movie The Woman In Black is "genuinely frightening," despite film bosses fighting for a lower age rating.

The Harry Potter actor stars in the creepy new movie, adapted from Susan Hill's book of the same name, which was given a 12A rating in Britain after producers agreed to cut out several minutes of spooky footage.

The age restriction means children under the age of 12 can see the film if accompanied by an adult, but despite the ruling, Radcliffe is adamant adults should think carefully before taking their kids to see it.

He tells Sky News,...

Daniel Radcliffe Stars With Real-Life Godson In 'The Woman In Black'

January 26th, 2012 8:17pm EST
Daniel Radcliffe
Daniel Radcliffe turned the set of his upcoming horror film The Woman In Black into a family affair - he convinced director James Watkins to cast his real-life Godson as his child.

The Harry Potter star, who plays a young single father in the film, struggled to connect with a number of child actors auditioning for the role of his son, Joseph Kipps, so he bypassed the grueling process and recruited Misha Handley for the part.

He tells the Associated Press, "It is very hard to create that chemistry with a four-year-old boy, who you have never met before and who is stepping onto a film set g...
