Eddie Izzard: 'I'm A Cross-Dressing Superhero'
Funnyman Eddie Izzard describes his transvestite tendencies as a "superhero thing," insisting he cross-dresses to fight prejudice.
The British comic was famous for dressing in feminine guise while performing his stand-up routines in the U.K. before finding international fame in the TV series The Riches and 2008 thriller Valkyrie. And Izzard claims he uses his transvestism to fight intolerance, likening himself to a disguised comic book hero.
He tells the New York Post, "I finished my last tour in Canada in girlie mode, and I'm just back in boy mode now. I consider it a superhero thing. ...

However, he will soon break out of "boy mode" and show Americans his more colorful side.

Brad Pitt Bashes Tom Cruise's 'Valkyrie'
Brad Pitt has declared battle against Tom Cruise for the title of best World War II movie - branding the Hollywood actor's recent film Valkyrie "ridiculous."

However, the actor insists his portrayal of Nazi hunter Aldo Raine in Tarantino's violent film is no comparison to his rival Cruise's character.

The prospect of Cruise taking on the role initially came under fire from the history-making colonel's children, who voiced objections to the Hollywood superstar portraying their father.

Tom Cruise Gets 'Valkyrie' Boost From Film Nazi's Grandson
Tom Cruise has gotten a boost for his role as a Nazi assassin in new movie Valkyrie - after the grandson of the soldier he is playing defended the controversial film against his family's own criticism.
Cruise plays injured World War II Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg, who led a plot to assassinate Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, in the film. The history-making Colonel's children voiced objections to Cruise playing their father.

Tom Cruise Learned From John Wayne For Valkyrie Role
Tom Cruise prepared for his role as a Nazi assassin in new movie Valkyrie by studying American movie icon John Wayne. The actor wore an eye patch to play an injured World War II colonel leading a plot to assassinate Nazi leader Adolf Hitler in the film.
And Cruise called upon a 1969 western movie starring his Hollywood hero to get him through the dizzying experience.
He tells talk show host David Letterman, "I remember as a kid seeing John Wayne in True Grit. He had the eye patch - I didn't realize. I got a little nauseous when I first put it on. I lost depth perception, I was ban...

'Valkyrie' Takes An Intriguing Look At Historical Event
Tom Cruise must be the only actor on the planet who can get away with playing any character, at any time, with an American accent. He never really disappears in his roles, not like Daniel Day-Lewis or Jamie Foxx with his portrayal of Ray Charles in "Ray"-no matter what he does, you can't help but looking at the screen and simply thinking to yourself, that's Tom Cruise. If that's the worst thing that can be said about a film, it probably stands a fighting chance.
As it turns out, Cruise's refusal to be anyone other than himself proves to be but a slight annoyance in an otherwise terrif...

Director Defends 'Valkyrie' Accents
Valkyrie director Bryan Singer has defended his decision to let the non-German cast of the World War II movie use their native accents in the film - insisting it would be less authentic if they tried to fake it.
Some critics have questioned Singer's decision to allow American Tom Cruise and Brits Tom Wilkinson and Kenneth Branagh use their native tongue in the film, even though they play German characters. But the filmmaker argues they would have sounded stupid and unrealistic attempting to impersonate Germans.
He tells the New York Times, "If everyone was trying to do German acce...

Did Hitler's Ghost Cause Tank Trouble On 'Valkyrie' Set?
Moviemaker Bryan Singer feared the ghost of Adolf Hitler had taken over his Valkyrie set when a runaway tank threatened to destroy camera equipment.
The director was shooting scenes with Tom Cruise in Cougar Buttes in California when a stuntman had to climb aboard an out-of-control tank and stop it crashing through thousands of dollars worth of sound and camera equipment. And Singer still thinks Hitler was behind the controls of the armored vehicle.
He says, "We had one tank that malfunctioned and it started rolling on it's own. It started rolling towards the camera equipment an...

Nicole Kidman felt stifled during her 10-year marriage to Tom Cruise, and only became an individual when they split in 2001. The actress claims she was never considered a star in her own right, and was treated as an extension to the Valkyrie actor.

Tom Cruise's United Artists deal makers have acquired the rights to Douglas Preston's serial killer story The Monster Of Florence at the Venice Film Festival in Italy.
Cruise is attached to produce and possibly star in the thriller, according to author Preston, who was inspired to write the book by a series of real-life grisly homicides that took place between 1968 and 1985 - the same murders that inspired Thomas Harris to write Silence of The Lambs sequel Hannibal.

Tom Cruise Stunned By Criticism Of Hitler Film
Tom Cruise cannot understand why his movie Valkyrie has attracted so much criticism - because it's such an "important" story.
The actor insists the movie - which tells the true story of a plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler during World War II - will be a box office hit after wowing audiences at a test screening earlier this month.
He says: "It (the criticism) just doesn't make sense to me either. The moment I read the screenplay I knew it was an important story, and as it's a true tale of heroic resistance to one of the great villains of history, I can't imagine that people won't ...

Lights, Camera, Scientology?
With a ban in Germany on the horizon, scientology has come under severe media scrutiny and public debate in recent years. Ever since Tom Cruise defamed Brooke Shields during post-partum-depression-gate '07, the quasi-religion has been a heated topic. It's been called an oppressive cult. A money-guzzler. A fraud. And it has something to do with an ancient alien named Xenu. So why do so many public faces flock to the Scientology church's doors?
