Best/Worst Movies Of Katherine Heigl

10/22/2010 2:54pm EDT
Katherine Heigl is a well known actress now, but earlier in her career she struggled to find the right films to get involved with. It was really television acting that helped her climb the ranks of popularity, from the sci-fi drama Roswell and then eventually the multiple Emmy award-winning show Grey's Anatomy. It was after gaining a lot of recognition for that show as Izzie Stevens that she got offered a big role in Judd Apatow's new film Knocked Up, and her career just took off from there. Although her newest movie has not been doing exceptionally well, Heigl is still in the spotlight. Sh...

Most Annoying Celebrites of 2009
Ugh, we are so annoyed with all the celebs that made the Most Annoying Celebrites of 2009 list but we still have to write about it.

Ugh x 2!

There are very talented people who made the list but because they cannot step out of the spotlight they are labeled as annoying. There are also some of the least talented people in the world that made the list and because they are talentless and annoying, which is the ultimate combination, those people are probably going to be ranked near the top.

One might be your favorite actor or actress but we promise you do not like at least a few of the...

25 Worst Movies Of 2009

11/27/2009 9:46am EST
The Body
Wow, there were some bad movies, like really bad, in 2009 but since we are optimists we like to think the good outnumbered the bad. We already discussed the good movies, and now we will feature the bad and ugly of 2009. Sometimes bad movies are entertaining enough to keep our attention for a few hours but sometimes the movies are so bad we induce vomiting to make us feel better.

Couples Retreat (25) had the cast and the budget to be a funny flick and it came out in the fourth quarter of 2009 when the best movies already came out. This movie was bad, not funny, and it might have marked th...

Actors Who Have Transitioned From TV To Film

8/25/2009 10:00am EDT
Jennifer Garner
For some actors, it is hard to make the crucial transition into film as a television star. Especially if you are typecast as a certain character and most people can't think of you as anyone else (for example, Matt LeBlanc as Joey on Friends). Television actors put their careers on the line when they leave their steady jobs to branch out into the film world, and they either make it or they don't. Here are the top television stars who managed to hold their own in the film world.

Will Smith- Before he was one of the top A-list movie stars, Will Smith was known as the Banks' troublemaking co...

Seth Rogen recently criticized co-star Katherine Heigl over her suggestions the pregnancy comedy Knocked Up was a little sexist. Rogen said, "I gotta say it's not like we're the only people she said some bats**t crazy things about. That's kind of her bag now."

Sarah's Cinema Musings: This Summer's Hits & Misses

8/3/2009 9:52am EDT
The Ugly Truth
Ok, we are almost through the summer season of film, and I, for one, feel like I am trying to resuscitate an almost dead corpse. Sure, there were hits, good films, and technical blockbuster hits, but were they really great or just great within their summer context?

The Blockbusters

Just because a movie generates revenue at the box office does not necessarily translate into a successful well-loved film. X-Men Origins: Wolverine for instance, didn't exactly start the season off with a bang. Star Trek was loved by both fans and non-fans; something that was a bit of a worry before th...

Scottish actor Gerard Butler stars in 'The Ugly Truth.' The 39-year-old was recently reported to be dating Jennifer Aniston, but he has hit back, calling the romance rumors ridiculous. "That is just annoying. People say I'm always dating so and so, and sometimes it's three people in one day. I'm trying to make movies, work hard and do my best. Then this kind of thing happens and people start to associate me more with th...

Review: Opposites Attract In 'The Ugly Truth'

7/21/2009 1:33pm EDT
The Ugly Truth
"The Ugly Truth" is not a terribly great film but it's not a terribly bad film either. It's probably what any person seeking out a film starring Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler -- with a surprising, and totally warranted based on language alone, R rating -- as total opposites that, at first, can't stand being in the same room together, would expect. So, having that been said, it's hard to completely criticize a film that sets out to do exactly what it wants.

Katherine Heigl is Abby. This is not exactly the Katherine Heigl we are used to seeing in her recent films. This is a very uptigh...

Although her movie career is taking off, Heigl is sticking to her "Grey's Anatomy

" roots, and she's excited to be back on set. She says, "I've missed my friends and it was really fun to see everybody. It's such a strange thing. It's been two months but it doesn't feel like any time has past at all because you're right back in the same set, same wardrobe, and with...

Gerard Butler Represents Men In 'The Ugly Truth'

7/20/2009 9:48am EDT
Gerard Butler
Who better to represent men in the chick flick genre than the badass of 300, Gerard Butler? In The Ugly Truth, he plays a relationship guru forcing women to face the harsh realities of how men think. Butler keeps speaking on his gender's behalf as he does press for the romantic comedy.

"I think this is the first movie that really brings it up and strikes to the heart if it, how guys really think," Butler said. "I swear, I know I'm going out on a limb here and ending my career, but it's almost impossible for a guy to go, 'You know what? There are times when I just turn around and look at...

This Week's Movie Buzz: See It, Rent It, Or Skip It?

7/20/2009 9:27am EDT
The Ugly Truth
Last Tuesday I had the opportunity to catch "Dead Snow" on Demand, and it was everything I hoped it would be. To enjoy the film though you truly need to suspend your disbelief, because if Nazi zombies are not enough, there are tons of really ridiculous, impossible events that occur.

This self-aware horror film makes many hilarious references both directly and indirectly to other movies of the genre. Characters are incredibly cliché and the dialogue is woefully written, but it is an action packed gore-fest featuring some of the most delightfully brutal horror movie deaths.

Comedies d...

Starpulse's Explosive Summer Movie Preview

5/1/2009 10:06am EDT
Star Trek
Since the dawn of the American cinematic blockbuster in the late 1970s and early 1980s, moviegoers have eagerly waited for May - the unofficial beginning of summertime. This summer is no different. Films, and most popular media, are social mirrors, and this summer season supports that. The large box office contenders all deal with very similar themes: escapism and the support of the lone, outlaw hero figure (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Star Trek, Terminator Salvation, Up, Transformers 2, Public Enemies, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, Inglourious Basterds, et...

From The Small Screen To The Big One: Many Stars Make The Leap

1/22/2008 2:08pm EST
Will Smith
Television actors must deal with the stigma of being TV stars instead of movie stars. However, some of our favorite movie stars started their acting careers on a TV show. So there is hope for all the celebs who have big-screen aspirations. Here is a look at some of the biggest stars in Hollywood who have made the leap from the small screen to the big screen:

Will Smith

Will Smith should be labeled "The King of the Box Office." His movies often make millions. His latest film "I Am Legend" broke all December opening records at the U.S. box office with a staggering $72.6 million openin...
