This movie was unexpectedly funny. Some of the laughs were cheap and slapstick, but you couldn't watch this and not have laughed out loud at some point - which makes it a winner for me.

Two Big Thumbs Up! "The Ugly Truth" is the perfect guy film. It's like sleeping with a big,fat woman on cold, wintery night. I laughed, long, and hard. Gerard Butler (Mike Chadway), can't match Frank "T.J." Mackey (Magnolia), but he's certainly in the ballpark when it comes to playing a character that is callous, sexist, and chauvinistic. Mike Chadway is a man's man. It made me so proud to hear a character voice the exact opinions on marriage, sex, and women that I do. The enchanting Katherine Heigl (Abby Richter), nails her role as a TV producer who's a tad bit controlling and uptight. The TV station needs a hit show: Mike Chadway is summoned to save the day with his brutally honest and misogynistic TV show, "The Ugly Truth" Chadway's views on broads, dudes and relationships are hysterical. Sure, they're dripping with sexism, but I didn't care. I was far too busy laughing. Abby despises Chadway's lewd antics and childish behavior, but his monster approval ratings prevents him from being canned. Along theway, Chadway gives his audience more than they bargained for and helps a bickering news couple fall in love all over again. Chadway spends the remainder of the film trying to get Abby to loosen up in order to lure in the man of her dreams. Colin (Eric Winter), is the handsome Doctor that Abby is chasing after. It is obvious that Chadway loves Abby, but she has set her sights on Colin. Chadway and Abby deserve to be together, but you'll have to find out for yourself if they get together. "The Ugly Truth" is an assalt on the senses. Gerard Butler preaches to the choir and Katherine Heigl will warm your soul with her spunk, wit, and robust figure. I left with a satisfied smile on my face.
