Tony Scott
The film world has lost one of its greatest visual artists. Director and filmmaker Tony Scott, brother of Ridley Scott, was tragically found dead after jumping from a Los Angeles County Bridge. It’s a truly sad end to the life of one of cinema’s most amazing master craftsman. The 68-year-old filmmaker was responsible for some of the most iconic, stylistic, gritty and highly memorable work to ever grace the silver screen. And while he may not have received the same respect and accolades as brother Ridley, Tony’s work will live on as a reminder of what one can achieve with a passion for f...

Quentin Tarantino Accused Of Favoritism At Venice Film Festival

September 12th, 2010 11:12pm EDT
Quentin Tarantino
An alleged fix has rocked the Venice Film Festival after a group of Italian journalists accused jury president Quentin Tarantino of favoring ex-girlfriends, pals and associates.

The outcry came after the filmmaker's former lover Sofia Coppola claimed the festival's main prize, the Golden Lion, on Saturday for her drama "Somewhere."

Tarantino has since insisted her win was unanimous, but the local media is still questioning the director's choice, especially after his friend Alex de la Iglesia won two prizes for his film Balada triste de trompeta and one of his mentors, Monte Hellman, was h...

February 12th, 2010 2:50pm EST
He
Ah, Valentine's Day weekend, the perfect time for Hollywood to embrace the mainstream audience by giving them cheesy and wonderful romantic comedies to prepare for the big day of love. This year the aptly named "Valentine's Day" is perfectly timed to get big notice, but one of the first things that impresses viewers is seeing the celebrity cast involved. It seems like almost every major actor is involved with this project, including Julia Roberts, Jamie Foxx, Ashton Kutcher, Bradley Cooper, Jessica Alba, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Garner, Patrick Dempsey, and on and on with at least ten other ...

Five Tremendous Quentin Tarantino Films

August 19th, 2009 11:00am EDT
Inglorious Basterds
This week we finally get to see one of the most highly anticipated movies of the summer: "Inglorious Basterds." Like all Quentin Tarantino aficionados, we've been eagerly awaiting the arrival of this World War II action epic since it was in development.

Tarantino's films have had a profound impact on those that have an appreciation for cinema. His use of excessive violence as a form of social commentary, his references to classic movies, and his nontraditional narrative structure has remarkably influenced modern moviemaking since he hit the scene in the early 1990s.

With the rele...

The Best & Worst Films By Quentin Tarantino

April 24th, 2008 8:30am EDT
Quentin Tarantino
The serendipitous career of eccentric movie producer, director and writer Quentin Tarantino is a complex one. Tarantino has made a name for himself by creating nonlinear storylines and filming multiple perspectives from different characters in his movies - a technique that strays from the more commonly used straight-time storyline.

His films are not off the wall, but they invoke an element of surprise that comes from the small details within a scene that catches one off guard and by adding mysterious elements that never get explained. A good example of this was in Pulp Fiction when M...

The Three Best & Worst Movies Starring Brad Pitt

March 10th, 2008 2:00pm EDT
Brad Pitt
Today's cinemaphiles have yet to come to terms with the career of one Brad Pitt. Dismissed by most as a Hollywood tabloid star, few have openly included him in the category "Best Leading Men Of All Time" where he deserves to be.

Too many have placed too much focus on his relationships with Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie, rather than confronting that which we know deep down in our hearts to be true: Brad Pitt is a great actor.

He is so great that his performances in films like Snatch (2000), Ocean's 11 (2001) and Ocean's Twelve (2004) and 12 Monkeys (1995) d...
