Daniel Craig refuses to watch the Swedish version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo to avoid copying the original.

The James Bond actor stars as journalist Mikael Blomkvist in filmmaker David Fincher's upcoming Hollywood adaptation of the first novel in late author Stieg Larsson's crime trilogy.

The role was first played by Scandinavian star Michael Nyqvist in the Swedish film franchise, but Craig admits he has yet to check out his predecessor's performance.

"True Grit" star Hailee Steinfeld has landed the most romantic role in Hollywood after signing on to play Juliet in a new movie adaptation of William Shakespeare's "Romeo & Juliet."

The teenage actress, who was Oscar nominated for her role in the western, will be Italian director Carlo Carlie's leading lady in an indie production based on the tragic tale of forbidden love and suicide.

The film, which does not have a Romeo on board yet, will shoot in Italy, where the original play was set, later this year.

Oh, the pesky business of predicting Oscar winners. Depending on Academy voters’ moods, a pundit can come off as brilliant or dumb as a post. This seems to be an awfully predictable year – but be warned, that could mean upsets are in the air.

That said, here are my predictions for who will take home the gold at this Sunday’s Academy Awards in the major categories. I’ve devised my own odds system, which is completely made up; but, it does give a sense of how strongly I view the chances of each nominee.

'Black Swan' Tops International Box Office

Hotly-tipped Oscar favorite Black Swan is continuing to thrill film fans across the world after topping the global box office chart for the second consecutive week.

The ballet thriller, starring Best Actress nominee Natalie Portman, grossed $17.2 million over the weekend, bringing its haul outside of the U.S. market to a total of $97.9 million.

Another of Portman's movies, romantic comedy No Strings Attached, proved to be popular at the box office - it came third in a three-way tie with True Grit and Yogi Bear, taking $10 million each, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Actor Liam Neeson has discovered a snag in the Oscars officials' decision to nominate 10 Best Films - busy voters like him don't have the time to watch all the movies in contention.

The Unknown star has been a member of the Academy for the last few years, and as such, receives screener copies of the films up for the top Oscar - but he never gets around to watching them.

He confesses, "There's just not enough hours in the day, so I personally voted for the past two years because I think it's not fair if I see two films and I don't see the other 40."

As reported earlier, the Oscar nominations were announced this morning. As in recent years, everything went according to plan. There were a few surprise inclusions, but most of them weren’t shocking. And the snubs weren’t too surprising either.

‘The King’s Speech’ led with 12 nominations, more than most predicted. ‘True Grit’ was close behind with a strong 10 – an astonishing turnaround from its ridiculous zero nominations at the Golden Globes – while ‘The Social Network’ trailed with a somewhat disappointing 8 nominations.

'Green Hornet' Takes Top Spot At Box Office

Seth Rogen's superhero film "The Green Hornet" stung competition at the box office this weekend after taking profits of $34 million.

Director Michel Gondry's big-screen adaptation about a richboy-turned-masked vigilante opened at the top spot, according to studio estimates released on Sunday.

Toy Story 3 has been named film critics' top pick of 2010 at the Golden Tomato Awards.
