Jeff Bridges hopes the new visual effects used to take 30 years off him in the new Tron sequel will allow him to continue making movies - but never set foot on a film shoot again.

The 60-year-old veteran actor stars as video game hacker Kevin Flynn in Tron Legacy, reprising a character he played in the original Tron in 1982.

Experts were able to create a digital version of Bridges in his 30s by recording his facial movements and superimposing them onto the body of a younger man - and the Oscar winner has hailed the advancement as a "new era of film-making."

A representative for faceless French dance music duo Daft Punk has confirmed new songs purporting to be the band's work for Disney's upcoming Tron remake are fakes.

A number of tracks which were seemingly made by the Da Funk hit-makers surfaced online last week.

The songs, which were posted on video sharing website YouTube.com, were said to be the dance act's latest material to accompany new Disney epic Tron: Legacy, which is set for release in December.

However, a spokesperson for the duo has told music website Pitchfork.com that the recordings are actually fake.

The difference between technology from Tron to Tron Legacy is stick figures to fully populated cities. All that fancy stuff doesn't make it any easier to save the cyber world though. The young stars of Tron Legacy still had to wear complicated light suits that made basic scene work exhausting.

Faceless French dance music duo Daft Punk have landed the soundtrack to Disney's Tron remake. The "Harder Better Faster Stronger" hitmakers, who appear onstage and in videos as robots, will record the tracks for TR2N in a new Los Angeles studio they have built.

The original 1982 science fiction classic featured a soundtrack from Wendy Carlos, a musician and composer who helped to popularize the Moog synthesizer as a musical instrument.

I witnessed the masterpiece that is "The Dark Knight" over the weekend. We do not need to rehash why this film is so good; every perceivable media outlet has already done that. For me, one notable side effect of the film's greatness was to revisit "Batman" from 1989. Unfortunately, the years have not been kind to Tim Burton's vision of Batman, to the point where the film comes off almost campy. Jeff Bridges hated making 1982 film Tron because he had to spend 16 weeks wearing tights and a jockstrap. The gladiatorial cyber-adventure film was the star's worst movie experience because his restrictive dance belt made sitting down impossible.

Bridges tells British film magazine Empire: "I was drawn to that (Tron) because nothing like that had ever been done before. Of course, things progress so rapidly that as soon as we did it, it became passe. It was a pain in the a** to make. Literally."
