‘Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes’ Easily Takes Top Spot At Box Office

July 13th, 2014 7:03pm EDT
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
With no true rivals at the box office, it was pretty easy for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes to open at #1 at the box office - and by a wide margin.

Dawn earned $73 million over the weekend according to estimates, easily beating Transformers: Age of Extinction’s third week haul of $16.5 million. Tammy, one of the few movies to open for the July 4th weekend, dropped to third with $12.9 million. 22 Jump Street and How to Train Your Dragon 2 rounded out the top 5.

The only other films opening this weekend were Bollywood romantic comedy Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and independent flick Boyhood....

'Transformers' Tops Weekend Box Office, Set To Break Record In C
Melissa McCarthy's comedy Tammy proved to be no match against Transformers: Age of Extinction over the holiday weekend. With the fourth of July falling on a Friday this year, the overall weekend box office was predictably low – most families opting for picnics and fireworks.

Michael Bay's 4th installment of the Transformer franchise did an estimated $10.6 million Friday night with estimates that the Friday-Sunday numbers should be around $40 million.

McCarthy's R-rated comedy Tammy came in second Friday night, bringing in $6.3 million and should see somewhere around the $22 million mark f...

'Transformers: Age Of Extinction' Tops Box Office, Has Strong Opening In China

June 29th, 2014 8:16pm EDT
Transformers: Age of Extinction
Not surprisingly, Transformers: Age of Extinction has topped the weekend box office as the biggest film of 2014 (so far).

"Age of Extinction" pulled in a massive $100 million according to estimates, and is the first film to top the nine-digit mark this year.

The film topped the last installment in the series, Transformers: Dark Of The Moon, by a mere $2 million, proving that the switch from Shia Labeouf to Mark Wahlberg as the film's lead had no effect on moviegoers.

The film pulled in nearly half of its opening weekend gross on Friday night, selling out shows across the country to rake ...

Review: 'Transformers: Age Of Extinction' Is Surprisingly A Lot Of Fun

Review: 'Transformers: Age Of Extinction' Is Surprisingly A Lot
The BOTS are back - the good, the bad, and the ugly - and to my surprise not only did I enjoy the robots, I actually liked this film. Now that's something considering I disliked the first three intensely.

The Plot: Although I doubt that anyone sees this franchise for the plot, here it is; don't worry, no SPOILERS.

Even though the Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, saved the planet and the human race from extinction (see 'Transformers 3'), the CIA - led by the super evil, Harold Attinger (Kelsey Grammer) - is out to destroy every single one of them.

He wants Earth for us earthlings. Now what...

The New 'Transformers: Age Of Extinction' Poster Is Very Michael Bay

May 13th, 2014 1:03pm EDT
Transformers: Age of Extinction
While the previous Transformers films relied on explosions and mordern ordnance, it looks like Age of Extinction is going prehistoric – in robot form, anyway.

A recent release of new media for the upcoming summer blockbuster featured a poster of Optimus Prime in full “"Fantasy Novel Hero Pose" with a Dinobot as his trusty steed (Grimlock, to be specific). We did get a look at Optimus wielding a sword and shield on top of Grimlock during the Super Bowl spot in February, but only for a few moments.

Dinobots have been a fan favorite for some time – and why not, since they are the amalgamatio...

Transformers: Age of Extinction
"A new era has begun. The age of the Transformers is over," says a voice during the latest TV spot for Transformers: Age of Extinction.

But thanks to Cade Yeager's (Mark Wahlberg) discovery of a familiar old and defunct Autobot and bringing it to life again, it appears that the assumption of the narrator is wrong, and the robots from Cybertron are getting ready to wage yet another war on Earth.

Someone is searching for Optimus Prime, the leader of the Autobots, for an unnamed reason, and when an envoy shows up at Wahlberg's home his Transformer quickly springs to life.

2014 Super Bowl Commercials & Movie Trailers: Watch Them All Here!

February 3rd, 2014 12:28am EST
CELEBNAME
Like most of America, we thought that this year's Super Bowl between the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos would have been a much closer game.

Seattle's dominance on both sides of the ball led to a very one-sided 43-8 victory, and unless you're a member of the Seahawks' "12th Man," the game itself was a bit boring at times.

Naturally, we expected some pick-me-ups during this year's commercials, but while Bruno Mars, whose halftime show with the Red Hot Chili Peppers was on par with the the dominance of Seattle (chalk it up as one of the best), the commercials were as lame as the Broncos...

It's the second time the production was interrupted by extortion attempts. Bay wrote last week, "… some drugged up guys were being belligerent a**es to my crew for hours in the morning of our first shoot day...

Mark Wahlberg To Replace Shia LaBeouf In 'Transformers 4'

One way to freshen up (or destroy) a popular franchise is to change the lead actor. It can work - Jeremy Renner did a decent job taking over from Matt Damon in the "Bourne" series - but we're not sure how it will affect the blockbuster "Transformer" films.

Director Michael Bay just announced that Mark Wahlberg will join the fourth installment of the franchise, replacing Shia LaBeouf.

Bay wrote on his website, "Mark is awesome. We had a blast working on 'Pain and Gain' and I’m so fired up to be back working with him. An actor of his caliber is the perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise...
