For most people Thanskgiving Day is about turkey, football and the late afternoon tryptophan coma (a myth that's been debunked - yet we all get sleepy for some reason). But none of it would feel right without starting the day with a little breakfast, a hot cup of coffee and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The yearly American tradition expects 3.5 million people to line the streets of New York City with another 50 million television viewers watching from the comfort of their living rooms.

The parade is most notable for it's gigantic helium ballons, marching bands and dance troupes; as ...

'Tangled' Review: Disney's Magic Is Back With Charming, Rousing Songs & Storyline

November 22nd, 2010 9:21am EST
Tangled-091710-0008.jpg
Disney has had some hits and misses with animated films in recent memory. Sure, the mighty house of mouse made “Beauty and The Beast” “Aladdin” and “The Lion King” but “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” was sad, “Pocahontas” was oddly animated, “Hercules” was grotesque, and “Mulan” was lacking in song quality. The less said about “Home on The Range” the better.

So Disney went to CGI animated films and tried to play catch up to Pixar. The results thus far have been mixed. “Meet the Robinsons” was cute, “Bolt” was adorable, “Chicken Little” was middling, and nothing really captured the 90's magic...

Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away. And only a few days after that, critics groups will start doling out year-end best-of movie awards. Oscar season is officially underway.

This is the time of the season where anything could happen. But in just five weeks or so, most films’ Oscar prospects will be much, much clearer. Only a few things are virtually certain: ‘The Social Network’ will ride its buzz to a Best Picture nomination, and Jeff Bridges will be in the Best Actor race for the second consecutive year. Oh, and Sandra Bullock will not be so lucky.

Let’s break it down by the majo...

2010 Summer Movies Are Bad, But Past Years Have Been Worse (Video)

Inception
As usual, the lineup for summer movies this year was star-studded and full of sequels. However, most of them have been critically panned and - even worse - they are not racking up ticket sales. Still, there have been far worse summer selections.

In an interesting pattern, it seems every 9 years there is a "stinker" summer movie slate. In 2001, our summer selections looked like this: A Knight's Tale, Pearl Harbor, Scary Movie 2, Planet of the Apes, The Mummy Returns, Swordfish, Dr. Dolittle 2, Rush Hour 2, Tomb Raider, Jurassic Park III, and Captain Corelli's Mandolin. Yikes!

Michael Keaton has slammed the Hollywood trend of making sequels to box office hits - insisting moviemakers can become "soft and lazy" by relying on a successful format.

The actor starred in his own blockbuster action franchise when he played Batman in the first two Tim Burton films in the early 1990s.

He has also provided the voice of Ken Doll in the upcoming third installment of the Toy Story movie series.

But Keaton is adamant that producers and directors can become complacent if they keep churning out follow-ups without good plots - taking aim at recent superhero sequel Iron Man 2, w...

Jaden Smith’s character Dre, character is a bit more obnoxious and impatient than Ralph Macchio’s Daniel, mainly because he is younger though. It looks like the summer of 2010 will be one moviegoers will soon want to forget. Many studios and filmmakers are already scratching their heads wondering why this summer (barely halfway over) is producing rather disappointing numbers at the box office.

Iron Man 2 and Shrek Forever After have made $291 million and $166 million respectively and are the only big-budget films that have come out during this crucial season to break even with their production budgets. Audiences’ clear love of Robert Downey Jr.’s cool superhero Tony Stark and the comedic storytelling-style have made this franchis...
