The Worst Month for Cinema
January truly is the worst month for film. In fact, January is the equivalent of the second string JV team in high school. Its sole purpose is to warm the benches for the upcoming seasons.

The month sometimes holds a few kernels of popcorn goodness. The two genres that perform well, or at least have been granted a few sleeper hits in the past decade, are thrillers and sci-fi/horror. Last year 'Taken' and 'My Bloody Valentine 3D' were stars among flops in January. Typically, as rabid consumers of cinema, we forget about January. Linkin Park's Joe Hahn To Release Short Film, 'The Seed,' On iTunes

The Seed, a short film produced and directed by Linkin Park DJ Joseph Hahn and presented by Shorts International will make its debut on iTunes today. Hahn, whose directorial credits include such award-winning videos as Linkin Park's "In The End" (2002's VMA "Video of the Year" winner) and "Somewhere I Belong" (2003's VMA "Best Rock Video" winner), as well as music clips for Xzibit, Story Of The Year and Alkaline Trio, makes his first foray into directing short films with The Seed. Killers' Brandon Flowers Horrified By Ice Cube's Movies

The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers was horrified when rapper Ice Cube turned from hip-hop pioneer to Hollywood actor, branding his move "hypocritical". The Las Vegas singer, 26, admires eighties rap collective N.W.A., which was founded by Ice Cube and Dr. Dre.

But Flowers admits his opinion of Ice Cube, real name O'Shea Jackson, has fallen considerably since watching the rapper's movies Are We There Yet?, Are We Done Yet? and Torque.

He says, "I don't necessarily have a problem with the culture of hip-hop, it's the hypocrisy of people within it I can't bare.
