War of the Worlds star Tom Cruise has been voted the Top Money-Making Star of 2005 in Quigley Publishing Company’s 74th Annual Top Ten Money-Making Stars Poll. Cruise has won the poll seven times, the most of any actor since 1932, and has placed in the Top Ten 18 times. This was his first top finish since 2001 when he starred with Penelope Cruz in Vanilla Sky.

Among this week’s new releases is Flightplan, starring Jodi Foster. It centers on a woman whose daughter vanishes during a flight, but evidence indicates the girl was never on board. Also on DVD: the bawdy The Aristocrats, another Oliver Twist remake, creepy film The Fog, and independent feature Thumbsucker.
