They Crawl Review
This entry into the mutant-creature genre is hardly worthy enough to stand along side epics such as Them!, Empire of the Ants, or even Starship_Troopers. The computer generated bugs are icky enough for an initial uncomfortable giggle, but Mickey_Rourke gives them a run for their money in the very brief (but not brief enough) role of the cult leader. He ends an awkward, seemingly improvised scene with the game Tamara_Davies by pulling a door from its hinges, like, for what? It's an odd sequence in a series of odd sequences. The best thing going for They Crawl, is the pairing of Daniel_Cosgrove, who has a very Tom_Cruise-ian charisma going on, and Davies, who has a very Nicole_Kidman-esque vibe to match. But clearly the bug scenes are the reasons for this film's being, but once you've seen them devour one helpless victim, you've seen them all. Buzz McClain, Rovi
