Close to perfect movie making. Who would have thought Ridley Scott would be the best femininst Director around? Scott takes the tale of two Ladies about to go on a Road Trip. They are both married, and love their families but need a short break. What follows is a harrowing story of two Women on the Run from the Law. Ridley Scott uses the American West as a metaphor for Freedom and scenes of the West rival anyting done by that Master of the West himself John Ford. The Film has brilliant musical store. I cannot imagine any two actresses other than Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis who give the performances of their lives. and were both nominated for an Oscar. Neither won because it was likely impossible to separate the two in the voting. Had Sarandon been nominated as Best Actress and Davis Supporting Actress likely one or both would have won.As the movie goes from Road Trip to a Suspence Thriller to its dazzling ending this is movie making at its best, and to enjoy it see it a few times for it is a movie rich in detail. Superb support by Harvey Keitel and the fine Jason Beghe who should have been a bigger star actor and a great cast of fine performers. Brad Pitts star making debut in a role that William Baldwin turned down. I cannot praise this movie enoug and it is a credit to its Studio MGM and to Ridley Scott for a great and very daring movie. Bravo! | ||
