"Naked in a harness was fun – doing stunts, that was good," she said at the press conference (via "That was inter...

Violence In PG-13 Movies On The Rise, According To New Report

11/12/2013 8:53pm EST
A new study has revealed that violence in the movies is on the rise, more specifically that films rated PG-13 have triple the amount of violence as R-rated movies from the mid-1980s.

Films like "The Terminator" and "Die Hard" were originally slapped with an R-rating when they came out, but their recent sequels have gotten by with only PG-13 ratings despite containing more guns and more violent scenes.

"The MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) website clearly says that R-rated films contain more violence. But PG-13 films now contain significantly more violence than R-rated films," ...

'Clash Of The Titans' Star Sam Worthington Is No Hero

3/31/2010 11:40am EDT
Sam Worthington has carved out a new career as a Hollywood action hero. You might not recognize him in Avatar, the biggest movie of all time, because he was a blue alien for most of the movie. He looks more like himself in Terminator Salvation and this week’s Clash of the Titans, but don’t believe he’s the tough guy he plays in these movies.

“I believe a character should be part of yourself, so you bring it out of yourself so it lives in the fabric of your skin for a bit,” Worthington said. “I remember when I was doing the Terminator press, [journalists said], ‘Sam was an angry young man. ...

"Avatar" star Sam Worthington has given discount footwear store Payless a boost - by wearing budget shoes to the Oscars. The Aussie star traded in the expensive designer shoes his stylist handed him on the morning of the Academy Awards for a pair that cost him just $20 - and the cheap alternatives have since sold out.

He says, "That's kind of cool. Now I'm the Payless poster boy... All the tinsel of Tinseltown doesn't really bother me. In regards to my shoes, the ones they gave me made me look like a hobgoblin. If J. Lo stood in them, she would've fallen off the stage and ripped her dress....

Watching the World Burn: The Appeal of Post Apocalyptic Films

On December 31, 1999, the world sat poised to enter a new millennium unsure exactly of what lay ahead. After people got over the initial shock that Y2K did not plunge us into the total chaos predicted by computer experts, somewhat disappointed, they went back to their usual business.

Now that it's the year 2010, a decade into the new era, the next big year people suspect the world could end is 2012, in accordance with the termination of the Mayan calendar. In 2009, people flocked to see "2012" a Roland Emmerich film fictionally portraying the same prophesied destruction the year is s...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'Avatar,' 'Nine' & More

12/14/2009 9:25am EST
Last week I had a chance to catch "Invictus," director Clint Eastwood's latest effort. A lot of early buzz suggests the film should be a Best Picture contender at the Academy Awards, but I personally wasn't too impressed.

While "Invictus" isn't a terrible movie, it certainly isn't Eastwood's best. In many ways it just feels forced because the film tries too hard to send an inspirational message.

Eastwood explores a number of subplots that he never fully fleshes out, and he fails to establish the proper dramatic tension that makes a sports picture so powerful. As an audience member ...

Why All the Megan Fox Hate?

Why All the Megan Fox Hate?
It's barely three months since "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" crapped itself onto movie screens all over America, and already people want to declare the end of the Megan Fox fad. They talk about how she wasn't funny on Saturday Night Live. They talk about disappointing box office numbers for Jennifer's Body." They talk about how she doesn't say very smart things when she talks.

Most of all, they talk about how it's getting exhausting to hear about her every day. Google "Megan Fox afraid of the dark" and you get more than 59,000 results. Do the same with "Megan Fox doesn't like pa...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'Surrogates,' 'Pandorum' & More

9/22/2009 10:27am EDT
I'm curious to see the reception of "Surrogates," at the box office this week. People I have spoken with seem to have mixed opinions about whether they think the movie will be enjoyable or not.

Their interest level in the movie seems to be linked to which trailer they have seen. Trailer 1 appears to be rather bland and doesn't do much to entice the viewer. Folks who have seen Trailer 2 however, agree that it does a better job of selling the concepts present in the film, as well as emphasizing Bruce Willis' struggle without his surrogate.

In addition to the sci-fi thriller "Surr...

Are TV Remakes A Good Idea?

9/10/2009 4:27pm EDT
Looking at the CW's Tuesday line up, it's almost like getting a blast from the past: "90210" and "Melrose Place" on again? Is it the 90s? No, they're just two examples of the new television remakes blasting onto the screen, and they're not alone. "Eastwick," based on the "Witches of Eastwick" movie, premieres on September 23 on ABC, and "V" (premiering Nov. 3) is a remake of a canceled science fiction series. Now ABC has the rights to adapt "St. Elmo's Fire" from the popular film, and NBC is bringing back their detective drama from the 70s "The Rockford Files."

This is hardly a new thin...

Summer Movie Awards Part 2: Best Film, Worst Title & More

The Death by Twitter Award

Winner: "Bruno"

This movie made more than 20 percent of its gross in the first night. After that evening, the Twiterrati hit their little squawk box to spread the word that there was far too much spreading of limbs in this bit of borderline pornography. The resul...

Sarah's Cinema Musings: This Summer's Hits & Misses

8/3/2009 9:52am EDT
The Ugly Truth
Ok, we are almost through the summer season of film, and I, for one, feel like I am trying to resuscitate an almost dead corpse. Sure, there were hits, good films, and technical blockbuster hits, but were they really great or just great within their summer context?

The Blockbusters

Just because a movie generates revenue at the box office does not necessarily translate into a successful well-loved film. X-Men Origins: Wolverine for instance, didn't exactly start the season off with a bang. Star Trek was loved by both fans and non-fans; something that was a bit of a worry before th...

"I was ill-equipped as I'd just had a baby. You have pelvic floor problems after having a baby, and bladder control is minimal. Every time I screamed I wore nappies (diapers). Helena Bonham Carter warned her Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince co-stars not to get too close during filming.

In addition to "Potter," Helena recently starred in Terminator Salvation. While filming last year, four of her family members were killed in a car crash in South Africa.

Top Celebrity Freak Outs - Can They Bounce Back?

7/2/2009 2:52pm EDT
Mel Gibson
Celebrity is something of a double edged sword. On one hand you could make millions and be adored by fans all over the world, but it also means the loss of privacy and the constant nitpicking of the mainstream critics. One slip up is all it takes for your face and words to be scattered over magazines and blogs, but sometimes the controversies are worth being taken to task for.

Here's a look at some of the celebrities who lost their mind or temper at the wrong time, and whether or not they have managed to bounce back from the incidents. What do you think of these moments in celeb history...

This Week's Movie Buzz: See It, Rent It, Or Skip It?

6/29/2009 10:48am EDT
Public Enemies
I saw "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" last week, and I really enjoyed it. Apparently among critics I was in the minority on that one. The film certainly wasn't perfect, but I didn't think it was nearly as bad as people were saying.

The surprising thing for me though, was how divided people's opinions were about it. For the most part I found that people who viewed the film fell into two camps: those that loved it and those that hated it. I didn't really encounter a many people who fell in between.

July starts out a bit slow this week with "Public Enemies," "Ice Age: Dawn of...
