Star Wars creator George Lucas provided the highlight of this year's Scream Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday night when he showed up to accept the Comic-Con Icon Award.

It will be one "dark knight" this October as Spike TV presents the third annual "SCREAM," a celebration of the best in horror, sci-fi, fantasy and comic genres.

*SPOILER WARNING* Violent scenes in Liv Tyler's new movie The Strangers are so realistic, test audiences fled cinemas fearing the actress was being killed for real. Tyler and Scott Speedman play a couple terrorized and held hostage in their own home by a group of masked intruders.

The film is based on a real event, and contains graphic scenes of violence, that left Tyler battered and bruised and film goers terrified.

Kung Fu Panda has fought its way to the top of the American box office chart after earning an impressive $60 million in its opening weekend.

The animated hit toppled Sex and the City: The Movie from the top spot. The film version of the hit TV show tumbled to fourth place, taking $21.3 million.

New Adam Sandler comedy You Don't Mess with the Zohan entered the chart in second place, earning $40 million over the weekend. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull dropped to third with $22.8 million.

Horror film The Strangers came fifth with $9.8 million.

Liv Tyler has discovered a new way of losing weight - starring in a horror film.

The actress reveals she dropped "about 10 pounds" while making new film The Strangers because she had to run around, acting terrified throughout the shoot.

And now she recommends the odd weightloss program to other actresses who are trying to shed the pounds.

She says, "We had to be in that heightened state all the time, and when you get scared or you're shocked you kinda have a hard time breathing and you're like hyperventilating and crying and screaming.

Actress Liv Tyler combined method acting with dieting on the set of new horror movie The Strangers - by running around before shooting intense sequences. The 29-year-old mother of one was pleased to notice the weight drop off quickly.

She says, "Whenever I had to film an intense scene, I'd run around the lot to get out of breath. I lost about 10 pounds in a couple of weeks."
