British actor Alex Pettyfer has made a vow to keep his personal life fiercely guarded in a bid to emulate his screen heroes.

The Wild Child star is happy to speak candidly about his films, but he doesn't want fans to know any private details about him - because he's convinced the information would detract from his performances.

And the 20 year old, who recently denied reports he's engaged to Glee star Dianna Agron, admits he looks up to former screen stars who kept an air of mystery about them by withholding their secrets.

Mickey Rourke avoids reading other people's parts when learning his lines from movie scripts because he is "really lazy." The 49-year-old actor, soon to be seen alongside Ewan McGregor in Stormbreaker, believes his method keeps his performances spontaneous.
