Felicity Jones To Play Princess Leia In First Stand-Alone 'Star
Actress Felicity Jones, who is currently nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in "The Theory Of Everything" is set to star in the first stand-alone "Star Wars" spinoff film, which is set to hit theaters a year after "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

The actress is close to signing on, according to The Hollywood Reporter, and beat out "Orphan Black" star Tatiana Maslany and "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" star Rooney Mara for the part.

So far there's no confirmation of who she'll be playing, but considering that she'll be the film's lead, all signs point to Princess Leia.

Actor Peter Mayhew, who plays the Wookiee Chewbacca in the "Star Wars" movie saga, has been hospitalized with pneumonia.

The actor, 70, was admitted to the hospital over the weekend and was forced to cancel an appearance at a Texas comic book store.

His wife, Angie, took to Reddit.com to confirm the news, thanking fans for their well-wishes and explaining that he's doing fine.

Actor David Prowse, who played iconic Star Wars villain Darth Vader, is battling dementia.

The actor, who played Vader on screen while the character was voiced by James Earl Jones, has revealed that his memory has been deteriorating and even if he was offered a cameo or the chance to resurrect the legendary villain for the upcoming seventh episode of the series, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens, he wouldn't be able to do it.

The film's official facebook page shared an image of the franchise's logo, showing the new subtitle "The Force Awakens."

"Officially begun, production has," read a post on the official Star Wars Facebook page Friday morning, along with the first official photo released from the set of Episode VII.

The image, which is merely a shot of the digital slate used for filming, contains the film's working title, "Star Wars Episode VII," along with director J.J. Abrams' name and the date "5-16."
