Luke Skywalker's Pants Go Under The Hammer

A pair of pants worn by Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars trilogy has pulled in $36,100 at auction.

Mark Hamill donned the sand-colored Levi's to play the iconic Jedi Knight in George Lucas' 1977 sci-fi classic Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope.

On Tuesday, Experts at Los Angeles auction house Nate D. Sanders had set a pre-sale estimate of $70,000-$100,000, but the distressed pants pulled in $36,100 when they went under the hammer.

There were 13 bids for Skywalker's trousers, according to AFP.

After striking a deal with British politician George Osborne, producers are bringing the new Star Wars shoot to the United Kingdom.

George Lucas' massively popular franchise is now owned by Disney, and filming on the seventh movie in the series is scheduled to begin later this year. The film will be mostly shot in England after Britain's finance minister, Chancellor of the Exchequer Osborne, gave movie execs huge tax breaks.

Disney has struck a deal to return "Star Wars" to its British roots as the franchise will return to England to film "Star Wars: Episode VII."

George Lucas has paid tribute to Ralph McQuarrie, the artist who helped him bring his Star Wars vision to the big screen, after his death on Saturday.

McQuarrie was 82 years old when he passed away at his home in Berkeley, California.
