'Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark' To End Broadway Run In January

November 19th, 2013 5:01pm EST
Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark ending on Broadway
Broadway's superhero musical "Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark" is set to end its run early next year.

The production, which is the most expensive stage production ever at $75 million and features music from U2's Bono and The Edge, became one of the Great White Way's biggest earning shows after a very troubled start.

The play saw a big fall in earnings over the fall and prducers have decided to pull the plug after two years. It's not over though -- they'll merely be packing up the show and taking it to Las Vegas.

"Economically we have a greater opportunity in the Las Vegas market," producer...

Spider Man 3
Working on the set of "Spider-Man 3" was challenging for James Franco because he had a crush on Kirsten Dunst, who was dating their co-star Tobey Maguire.  Franco was also jealous of the attention Maguire received from director Sam Raimi.

In a new Playboy interview with Raimi, who was also his "Oz the Great & Powerful" director, Franco confronted the filmmaker for showering Maguire with attention and virtually ignoring him while making the 2007 film.

Franco also confesses he had feelings for leading lady Dunst.

He says, "I felt you gave Tobey Maguire so much attention during Spider-Man ...

Earning $65 million, "The Amazing Spider-Man" swung into first place at the box office over the weekend. The film, starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, opened to positive reviews on Tuesday and made a record-breaking $7.5 million in midnight ticket sales.

The film earned a total of $140 million over its six-day opening, less than the three previous films from the franchise. The first "Spider-Man" (2002) made $144.2 million in its six-day start, and "Spider-Man 2" (2004) made $180.1 million. "Spider-Man 3" (2007) took home a respectable $176.2 million.

For The 'The Avengers' Assembly – Our Top Ten Superhero Movies Of All Time

May 3rd, 2012 9:00am EDT
The Avengers
As the Avengers finally assemble, bringing the biggest superhero movie yet to the big screen, we have to ask: Of all these darn superhero movies, which ones are the best? Luckily, we can also answer that question we just asked ourselves. Let the debate commence!

10) THE SHADOW (1994)

A lot of movies could’ve taken this spot on the list, but for the sake of mixing things up, I’m going with this oft-dismissed adaptation of the classic radio / pulp / comics hero (many will argue he’s not a superhero, but he fits the criteria). Director Russell Mulcahy crafted a moody, stylish art-deco peri...

Spider-man
Broadway's much-maligned Spider-Man musical closed out 2012 in style by setting new box office records for New York theater.

The spectacular, which opened to scathing reviews last year following multiple delays and safety issues, grabbed the record for the highest single-week gross of any show in Broadway history on Tuesday thanks to post-Christmas ticket sales of over $2.9 million.

The previous record holder, Wicked, took in $2.2 million a year ago and ironically The Wizard Of Oz spin-off had another huge end to the year, raking in over $2.7 million from nine shows last week.

'The Amazing Spider-Man' Teaser Trailer Arrives (Watch It!)

July 20th, 2011 3:37pm EDT
The Amazing Spider-Man
The first teaser trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man, starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, has officially arrived - and it looks really good, but also really familiar.

The film, which is still almost a year off, is a re-boot of the Spider-Man franchise that began in 2002 and ended in 2010 when director Sam Raimi and star Tobey Maguire quit over issues with the script of then-planned Spider-Man 4.

So the studio forged ahead with a new telling of the story, which, according to this teaser, is basically the same story we got back in 2002 - only this time there's more focus on Spidey honin...

"Believe in the remake, dawg! The project is real. In the works. Cool as hell. Scary as hell." That's what Bruce Campbell tweeted recently after a fan asked him about rumors of an Evil Dead remake.

The original film was a cult hit in the early 80s after it failed to make a splash in theaters due to excessive gore. It began director Sam Raimi's career, who would go on to direct the Spider-Man trilogy and Drag me to Hell.

Now it appears the original producing trio of Robert Campbell, Sam Raimi, and Robert Tapert are all in to re-create the horror film.

An official statement was releas...
