Darth Vader. Michael Corleone. Frodo. All legendary cinematic characters and all first made famous by a Hollywood trilogy. Sure, every movie allows viewers to escape the real world into the land of their imagination for a little while, but there's something special about a set of movies that comes in three. Broadway's superhero musical "Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark" is set to end its run early next year.

The production, which is the most expensive stage production ever at $75 million and features music from U2's Bono and The Edge, became one of the Great White Way's biggest earning shows after a very troubled start.

The play saw a big fall in earnings over the fall and prducers have decided to pull the plug after two years. It's not over though -- they'll merely be packing up the show and taking it to Las Vegas.

Frida director Julie Taymor has settled her legal dispute with the producers of Broadway show Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark. The pending litigation between the parties has been settled by mutual agreement and all claims have been resolved.

Taymor, who was the original director and co-writer for the play, was fired after years of delays, accidents and significant criticism to a show whose $75 million price tag made it the most expensive in Broadway history.

Earning $65 million, "The Amazing Spider-Man" swung into first place at the box office over the weekend. The film, starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, opened to positive reviews on Tuesday and made a record-breaking $7.5 million in midnight ticket sales.

The film earned a total of $140 million over its six-day opening, less than the three previous films from the franchise. The first "Spider-Man" (2002) made $144.2 million in its six-day start, and "Spider-Man 2" (2004) made $180.1 million. "Spider-Man 3" (2007) took home a respectable $176.2 million.

Actress Kirsten Dunst has won a three-year restraining order against a French fan who allegedly turned up outside her home uninvited.

The Spider-Man star was granted a temporary court order against Jean Christophe Prudhon, 51, in December amid allegations he sent her more than 50 love letters and jetted to the U.S. to meet her face-to-face, even confronting the actress' mother on the doorstep of her home.

The order was due to expire at the end of the month but Dunst received an extension, guaranteeing her protection through the New Year.

Broadway's much-maligned Spider-Man musical closed out 2012 in style by setting new box office records for New York theater.

The spectacular, which opened to scathing reviews last year following multiple delays and safety issues, grabbed the record for the highest single-week gross of any show in Broadway history on Tuesday thanks to post-Christmas ticket sales of over $2.9 million.

The previous record holder, Wicked, took in $2.2 million a year ago and ironically The Wizard Of Oz spin-off had another huge end to the year, raking in over $2.7 million from nine shows last week.

Kirsten Dunst has won an extension of a restraining order to keep a French fan away from her until the new year.

The Spider-Man star was granted a court order against Jean Christophe Prudhon, 51, this month amid allegations he sent her more than 50 love letters and flew to the U.S. in a bid to meet her, even confronting the actress' mother on the doorstep of her home.

The temporary restraining order was due to expire on Wednesday, but Los Angeles Judge Carol Boas Goodson has now extended it until January.
