14 Time Loop Films To Get You Ready For 'Edge Of Tomorrow'
The idea of time travel has been around for centuries and for good reason: who hasn't dreamed of going back and changing their past mistakes? Well, Tom Cruise has the unique chance of doing just that in Edge of Tomorrow, except that he must die over and over until he can defeat an alien menace.

Before you check out Edge of Tomorrow this weekend, perhaps one of these 14 other time loop films will serve as an appetizer...

Jake Gyllenhaal's 5 Best Movies

September 22nd, 2012 8:00am EDT
Jake Gyllenhaal's 5 Best Movies
You can say this about Jake Gyllenhaal: there’s little chance he’ll ever be typecast. Thanks to his deliberate choice to vary his roles as much as possible, Gyllenhaal continues to be one of the most unpredictable actors working today. He’s done big budget blockbusters (Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time) and smaller, contemplative indie films (Proof, Moonlight Mile). With each film, Gyllenhaal seems to pick roles in which he can challenge himself as an actor, rarely playing the same type of character more than once.

This weekend Gyllenhaal will continue to surprise audiences with a grit...

On DVD: 'Source Code' Smart, Original Sci-fi

July 26th, 2011 2:13pm EDT
Gyllenhaal/Monaghan
Sometimes it feels like original ideas are against the rules in Hollywood; most of the movies that get made, even the good ones, are rehashes of the same old ideas. This year’s Best Picture winner, for instance, was a film about an unorthodox therapist who is able to help our protagonist when other therapists have failed. Someone recently pointed out to me, it’s the same basic plot as “Good Will Hunting;” I mentioned that “Mary Poppins” is cut from the same cloth as well. Old ideas rehashed = box office (and Oscar) glory.

Which makes “Source Code,” a movie based around an original ide...

Censors Remove Bloody 'Hangover II' Trailer From Cinemas

April 7th, 2011 8:27am EDT
The Hangover 2
Trailers for "The Hangover 2" have been pulled from cinemas after officials at the Motion Picture Association of America deemed the teaser too offensive to be aired before PG-13 films.

The trailer, featuring suggestive language and a taxi cab scene in which cast member Zach Galifianakis' character is splattered with pig's blood, was shown in theatres over the weekend before Jake Gyllenhaal's new thriller "Source Code," which is rated PG-13.

But censors have ruled the promo is too much for young minds, and they've decided to pull it.

Instead, "The Hangover Part II" trailer will now accomp...

'Hop' Rules Weekend Box Office

Hop
Russell Brand's new family comedy "Hop" has jumped to the top of the box office with an opening weekend $38.1 million take.

The Easter-themed movie, in which the British funnyman voices a bunny character, matched the year's best debut so far - for Johnny Depp's Rango.

Ironically, Brand presented Depp with the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Award for Best Movie Actor on Saturday night.

Meanwhile, Jake Gyllenhaal's action thriller "Source Code" debuted at number two with $15.1 million, and horror film Insidious opened at number three.

Last week's number one film, "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick ...

Review: 'Source Code' 'Two Jews On Film' Aren't On The Same Track (Video)

March 31st, 2011 11:53am EDT
Source Code
'Source Code' directed by Duncan Jones stars Jake Gyllenhall as Captain Colter Stevens, a Blackhawk helicopter pilot in the U.S. Army who one morning wakes with a jolt to find himself on a commuter train heading into Chicago.

Seated opposite Colter is a woman named Christina Warren (Michelle Monaghan) who seems to know him very well. Only trouble is Captain Colter has no idea who this girl is or how he got on the train. The last thing Colter does remember is flying a helicopter mission in Afghanistan. Things get even stranger when he looks in the mirror. The face reflecting back is not...

So flux capacitors at the ready readers, cause here are five ri...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'Source Code,' 'Insidious' & More

March 28th, 2011 9:25am EDT
Source Code
Given the strength of director Zack Snyder’s previous films “300” and “Watchmen,” his first original work “Sucker Punch” is a surprising disappointment. From a visual standpoint the movie is rock solid, with excellent art direction and an intense soundtrack to buttress it.

However Snyder claims that one of the story’s major goals is to comment on the objectification of women, which frankly it fails at in major ways. If you have not done so already, check out further thoughts in my review of “Sucker Punch.”

Arriving in theaters this week are the Jake Gyllenhaal thriller “Source Code,” ...

Rep: Jake Gyllenhaal Didn't Fight Fan In Bathroom

March 14th, 2011 8:19am EDT
Jake Gyllenhaal
Jake Gyllenhaal's representative has played down reports the actor was involved in a bathroom bust-up at the South By South West Film Festival, after a male fan snapped a photo of the star at a urinal.

The actor was attending a special screening of his new action movie "Source Code" on Saturday at the Austin, Texas event when he found himself accosted as he relieved himself in the bathroom.

Rumors online suggest Gyllenhaal became embroiled in a heated moment with the man after approaching him and demanding he delete the picture.

The Hollywood hunk appeared to confirm the news when asked ...
