Samuel L. Jackson has been left perplexed by the tragic case of Trayvon Martin but insists Americans must retain the right to bear arms.

Martin, 17, was shot dead by neighborhood watch coordinator George Zimmerman in a gated community in Florida in February, and the case made headlines around the world as the teenager was unarmed.

Zimmerman was not initially arrested as he claimed he acted in self-defense under the state's "stand your ground" law after Martin attacked him, but he was later charged with second-degree murder and released on bail.

Jackson has branded the law that initial...

However, the star didn't allow the incident to ruin his evening. The source adds, "The wai...

'Women In Trouble' Is Interesting But Flawed

November 14th, 2009 8:43am EST
Women in Trouble
Sebastian Gutierrez is known for being the screenwriter of films like "Snakes On a Plane," "Gothika," and "The Eye," but for his new film "Women in Trouble" he seemed to take a turn from big action films to an independent character piece.

It's heavy with quick paced dialogue, clever and amusing, and it stars ten women as the heart and soul of the story. "Women in Trouble" is a troubled film itself, because while it has some moments of pure acting and writing gold, there are several serious hang ups that the audience will find hard to forgive.

The real main character of the movie is ...

Five Best & Worst Films Starring Samuel L. Jackson

March 27th, 2008 4:03pm EDT
Samuel L. Jackson
Samuel L. Jackson is one of those rare character actors who can take even the weakest of scripts and turn the dialogue into pure cinematic gold. Film after film he continues to deliver some of the most memorable one-liners and poetic obscenities, and he always manages to steal the show.

The challenge with ranking Sam Jackson films is ignoring the obvious victor for best role in Pulp Fiction where he plays Jules Winnfield, the Jheri Curl wearing, Bible quoting hit man. Landing the "Fiction" role was no doubt a turning point in Jackson's career and remains to this day his finest film pe...

Starpulse DVD Review: Snakes On A Plane

January 5th, 2007 11:04am EST
Snakes on a Plane
Early in 2006 it was announced that a film called "Snakes on a Plane" was going to hit theaters by the end of summer. Initially the film sounded like a total flop with a name like "Snakes on a Plane"-- a total B-movie that would be a complete bomb at the box office. But then we found out that Samuel L. Jackson would be starring as the film's main character. In fact, Jackson even signed on to do the film based on the title itself and hadn't even read the script. So naturally, as soon as Jackson's name was attached, every blogger from Perez Hilton to The Superficial and news collective from ...

Michael Caine Calls US Films 'Banal, Formulaic & Gross'

September 5th, 2006 9:26am EDT
Michael Caine
Michael Caine has hit out at the state of the U.S. film industry, branding Hollywood's latest efforts "banal, formulaic" and "gross." The veteran British actor believes American movies are dumbing down for their audiences, and he fears films "for people who understand dialogue" are going straight to DVD or television because movie moguls assume they are not sensational enough.

Caine still adores old films including Casablanca, saying "I remember every detail. Who today writes such lines? I can't think of one (contemporary film) I could see again."

And he became even more "depres...
