Mark Wahlberg pretended to enjoy training with the Marines in preparation for his role as a sniper in new movie Shooter, because he didn't want them thinking he was a wimp. The 35-year-old, who plays ex-marksman Bob Lee Swagger in the Antoine Fuqua-directed film, had to spend real time at weapon training facility Front Sight in order to understand the reality of his character.

He says, "I didn't enjoy it at all. I pretended to enjoy it, I acted like I was going to like it, but I'm pretty lazy and it was very intense. Once you're on their turf they like to push you around a little bit....

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles proved too strong for the 300 warriors of Sparta at the US box office over the weekend, debuting at number one with a three-day $24.4 million haul. TMNT, the sequel to 1990 movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, ended 300's two-week reign at the top of the cinema charts, but the ancient war epic continues to be the world's top movie and has now raked in more than $160 million in the US alone in less than three weeks.

Mark Wahlberg brought the pain when he agreed to show off his shooting skills on a Canadian TV show - and left an intern in agony. The star was promoting new movie Shooter, in which he plays a sniper, when TV hosts challenged his marksmanship - and turned a lowly crew member into a moving target.

Wahlberg says, "They said, `You can't really shoot and they gave me a paintball gun and they put this poor intern, like, 30 feet away from me with very flimsy padding, and they were like, `OK, you can shoot him anywhere you want.' I shot him in the chin, the paint went right through the mask....

Tough guy Mark Wahlberg is planning to use his new sniper movie Shooter to terrify his daughter Ella Rae's future suitors. The protective dad hopes he has a few years to prepare for the three-year-old’s dating days, but he's already got a few ideas in mind about how to make sure potential boyfriends behave themselves.

He jokes, "They sent me to sniper training, so I could be the daddy shining his rifle when she's 16 and the guy shows up at the house. I might have this movie playing in the background too."

Mark Wahlberg has revealed the reason he cancelled his seat on doomed 9/11 flight United 93 was to visit a childhood friend in Toronto, Canada. The star still finds it impossible to talk about the flight but is convinced that 'Rasta' Phil, who is now working on Wahlberg's movie The Shooter, saved his life.
