Watching a classic horror film starring a trademark murderous psychopath always makes for good movie fun. But there are a select few of onscreen murderers whose presence has been so mesmerizingly terrifying that we couldn’t help but leap out of our seats when they slashed and diced up victims on screen. The Shining
Author Stephen King is bringing the sinister child from The Shining back to life in his latest book.

The renowned horror writer admits he decided to revisit Danny Torrance, the psychic son of Jack Nicholson's demented character in the film adaptation, after fans continually questioned him about the youngster's fate.

The classic 1980 movie ends with Danny fleeing his murderous father during a snowstorm but the outcome is not made clear.

He tells the BBC, "I'd go to autographing sessions and people would say, 'Whatever happened to that kid from The Shining?' And I've never been one who ...

Can 'Avengers,' 'Dark Knight Rises,' And 'Amazing Spider-Man' Make 2012 The Best Movie Summer Ever?

May 2nd, 2012 2:07pm EDT
The Avengers
The movie industry earned $4.3 billion last summer at the U.S. box office to make it the best summer ever (I thought piracy was killing the industry?) but don't expect the mark to last for long. There's a team of superhero movies coming along, and each one could break records.

The Dark Knight Rises and The Avengers look to score over $400 million each and should be boosted with IMAX and 3D premiums. Thus far, The Avengers have already made $218 million overseas. There's also PIXAR's Brave and The Amazing Spider-Man - Pixar is always good for a cash infusion, but we'll have to wait and see ...

The alleged subliminal messages moviemaker Stanley Kubrick placed in his 1980 horror movie The Shining are to be explored in a fascinating new documentary, which will debut at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah next month.

Film fans have speculated that the Jack Nicholson movie is packed with clues about the U.S. government's 'faked' moon landing in 1969 and hidden messages about politics and issues of the day.

And now first-time director Rodney Ascher has investigated the theories for his new film Room 237, named after the hotel suite the film's psychic boy is warned not to enter.

'Supernatural' Recap: Have Faith That It Will Get Worse

padalecki and ackles
When “Supernatural” first started seven years ago, it was just a show about two brothers with a cool car, saving people and hunting things while they searched for their father. I had no idea that it would nearly double its ratings in the fourth season—thanks to passionate fans and the internet—or that it would snarkily and bravely tackle such enormous themes as religion, God and the true meaning of faith. But season six ended with everyone's favorite angel, Castiel, declaring himself the new God after bingeing on Purgatory’s doomed souls with as much gusto as Dean (Jensen Ackles) attacks ...

Best Movies Set In Cold Locations

December 26th, 2009 11:56am EST
Fargo
Often times, weather plays an integral role in films, whether it be that it helps to set the tone, has symbolic significance, or makes a kissing scene all the more steamy, like the passionate lip-lock between Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams in "The Notebook" (2004), whose sexiness skyrocketed thanks to it taking place during a downpour. Sometimes the weather even takes on a life of its own, like in the film "Twister" (1996), in which the tornado acts as just as much of a protagonist as both Helen Hunt's and Bill Paxton's characters.

So now, with winter officially getting its frosty self...

Now, before you fill up your tank, we should tell you that we're not talking about any old road trip. We're not talking about heading for the beach or the Grand Canyon. Johnny Depp's Best & Worst Films - Do You Agree?

Pirates of the Caribbean
The problem with an actor like Johnny Depp is finding movies in his history that aren't fantastic. Then you have to consider the movies that aren't that good, but that he was great in anyway (which covers basically everything else).

The truth is, this Kentucky-born actor is one of the best in his or anyone's generation, and he also is an accomplished producer, director, screenwriter, and yes, even has quite a set of singing pipes. Good thing he's just so unattractive or he might just be the perfect Hollywood hunk ... oh wait. He's gorgeous. Damn you, Johnny Depp!

They had listened patiently and attentively to the Wordless Music Orchestra perform ambient modernist pieces by Gavin Bryars and John Adams, but then the breathless crowd saw conductor Brad Lubman signal his players, who raised their bows to strike the first note of Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead's orchestral ...

However, the horror films that interest me the most are the ones that I can’t watch again or can’t watch very often. When something is truly horrifying, it should screw with you psychologically and make your skin crawl. Here are my "Top 10 Most Horrifying Films."
