Book Review: Sherlock On Screen

Sherlock on Screen
It’s sad to admit, that the expression “Don’t judge a book by its cover,” exists because people gravitate toward books with flashy designs and testimonials on their covers. Publishing companies cram as many positive blurbs on there as possible, because they know one of the best ways to drive sales is by word of mouth.

What's really refreshing though is when you see a book like Sherlock on Screen by Alan Barnes, which lets the subject matter speak for itself. Its cover is stylish yet simple. There are photos of various famous actors who have portrayed Sherlock Holmes on film and televi...

I’m disappointed to report that I didn’t love Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes sequel “A Game of Shadows.” The first half hour is pretty boring, and although the action picks up pretty heavily toward the middle, Ritchie seems to care more about style than substance in the film. He continues to use Sherlock’s own bullet-time type slow-mo combined with crazy forced perspectives of bullets and shells being shot from guns, which admittedly is pretty darn exciting at times.

What the movie lacks though is the same great banter between Watson and Holmes that was present in the first film. Holmes...

Robert Downey Jr. isn't a slave to fashion. He attended the "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" Rome photocall wearing a blue suit with an unusual pair of sneakers. It looked as though he dipped the tips of his white shoes into blue paint.

Robert was very chummy with Guy Ritchie at the event, linking arms with him and at one point letting the British director embrace him.
