Trailer Talk: 'Inglourious Basterds,' 'Post Grad' & More

August 17th, 2009 10:23am EDT
Inglourious Basterds
This weekend "500 Days of Summer" became my favorite movie of the season. The film's non-linear style of romantic storytelling works incredibly well. Jumping back and forth through various days in Tom and Summer's relationship is a fascinating way to get to know the couple.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Tom with an awkward charm that other lovesick fools can identify with. Much like a typical heartbroken lover, Tom finds himself bogged down remembering the positive parts of his relationship but forgetting the trials and tribulations.

While the film is not a typical love story filled w...

June 12th, 2009 9:22am EDT
Kung Fu Panda
Voice acting is a much more lucrative business than one might imagine, with the actors in question providing their voice for animated movies, video games, television shows, voice overs, and anything else that requires a voice but no face. Some actors do only that kind of work, giving themselves a certain amount of fame in that industry, such as "The Simpsons" cast.

Everything changed when voice acting became a business not only for unknowns, but also an attractive fad for celebrities who wanted to broaden their horizons ... or make a movie "for the kids." Now it seems that no animated...

Emily Blunt
Emily Blunt and Jason Segel have been tapped to join funnyman Jack Black in a new movie version of fictional adventure book Gulliver's Travels.

The pair are reportedly negotiating with bosses at Twentieth Century Fox to co-star with Black, who signed on in November to play a travel writer who gets lost in the Bermuda Triangle and washes up on an island of tiny people. The film, to be directed by Shark Tale's Rob Letterman, will give a modern spin to Jonathan Swift's classic 18th century tale.

However the role may mean Blunt will have to give up a potential role as femme fatale t...

Jack Black Finds Voiceover Work 'A Sweet Gig'

July 7th, 2007 4:19pm EDT
Jack Black
Jack Black had no hesitation in accepting an offer to lend his voice to upcoming animated movie Kung Fu Panda, because he enjoys the easy life of a voiceover artist.

The 37-year-old, who has previously lent his talents to cartoon films Ice Age and Shark Tale, loves not having to go into make-up each morning.

He says, "It's such a sweet gig. There's no hair and make-up. You just roll out of bed. I'd say, 'You guys cool starting at the crack of noon?' I'd show up with a little KooKooRoo rotisserie chicken with the creamed spinach. I'd ease into it, do five hours and call it a day....

May 11th, 2006 1:12pm EDT
Jack Black
Jack Black dined on a grasshopper enchilada while filming his new movie, Nacho Libre. The 36 year-old (star of King Kong and Shark Tale) tried the exotic insect dish in Oaxaca, Mexico, where he is filming the Lucha Libre (Mexican wrestling) movie.

Jack Black mused to comic book magazine Wizard, “Dude, I did have some grasshopper enchilada! Here’s the thing: It tastes good, but you’re not going to be able to not think about it because you’re eating it and, ‘Now, yes, I distinctly tasted a wing.’ Or, ‘Okay, that was an elbow joint of a bug. That was its skull. I just crushed its skull.”
