Jack Black's Kids Think He's A Salesman

December 20th, 2010 11:55pm EST
Jack Black
Funnyman Jack Black refuses to turn his film premieres into family affairs - because his two young sons have no idea they have a famous father.

The School of Rock star admits he's yet to tell four-year-old Sammy and Thomas, two, exactly what he does for a living - and he's keen to keep it that way.

Speaking at the Los Angeles premiere of his new movie Gulliver's Travels, he tells Access Hollywood, "I didn't bring my babies because they don't know I'm famous yet. I'm trying to keep it well-hid. They're like, 'Whatever. Daddy's Daddy.' They think I'm a salesman."

Black isn't the only celeb...

Gwyneth Paltrow
Gwyneth Paltrow is urging readers of her online health and lifestyle website to get some sleep - because a good rest is tantamount to good health.

The actress has teamed up with her doctor, Frank Lipman, to get the message across with a list of sleep tips on Goop.com.

She writes, "Everyone I know is knackered (tired), me included. But I didn't imagine that there could be health problems associated with not getting a good night’s rest.

"I recently read a book called Light’s Out: Sleep, Sugar and Survival by T.S. Wiley, which talks about the negative cumulative effects of sleep deprivation...

The Best & Worst Of Jack Black

June 23rd, 2009 11:25am EDT
Year One
If only life were so simple as to allow enjoyable Jack Black be noticeably different than awful Jack Black. Perhaps the slightly thinner, slightly less beardy version of him could be the best version of him and the more unshaven and huskier version could be the worst version of him, or vice versa; something, anything, that would allow the audience to know what not to waste their time on.

Yes, if only life were this simple.

Sadly, it's not, otherwise I would not have recently lost 97 minutes of my life to Black's latest film, "Year One". While having its moments coming mainly fro...

The Farrelly Brothers Can Make 'The Three Stooges' Movie Work

May 11th, 2009 11:47am EDT
The Three Stooges
When it comes to being funny, the Farrelly Brothers aren't joking. They've cast two Oscar winners, Sean Penn and Benicio Del Toro, (neither known for their comedic chops, at least not lately) as the immortal stooges Moe Howard and Larry Fine. They've also cast Jim Carrey as the corpulent Curley Howard. He's being expected to put on a good forty pounds for the role, a feat that's more reminiscent of Robert De Niro's transformation for the film, 'Raging Bull', than any comedy. (Fat suits and Jack Black don't count.) So why are the Farrelly brothers putting so much emphasis on the dramatic sid...

Brooke Burns
Brooke Burns talked to us recently about her new show, Miss Guided (including a sneak peek at the next few episodes,) her upcoming movies, and the importance that her daughter Madison has on her life. She does indeed live up to her IMDB resume which posts “Prior Job Title: Mom.” But she is more. She is courageous, having recovered from a near-fatal accident, yet still does most of her own stunts, is charming to chat with, and kept us chuckling through the entire interview.

We just got our first peek of Miss Guided. Pretty funny stuff! We liked your character, Lisa Germain.

Jack Black Snubbed By Thom Yorke

February 18th, 2008 2:43pm EST
Jack Black
Actor Jack Black regrets meeting his musical hero, Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke, because the singer couldn't have been less impressive.

The Shallow Hal star hailed Yorke a musical God but was left feeling deflated when he met the musician in the flesh - because he "was not into it". And now Black insists people shouldn't try to befriend their heroes to avoid disappointment.

The 38-year-old says, "He was not into it. All my heroes: not into it when I approach them! What do you hope to get from it? What you hope, even if you don't admit it, is that they will like you and want to ...

Jack Black Says His Humor Makes Him Sexy

December 7th, 2006 9:31am EST
Jack Black
Heavyweight funnyman Jack Black loves his Hollywood's Most Unlikely Sex Symbol tag because it proves humor is indeed the best aphrodisiac. Black has played the lead in a number of films, including Shallow Hal and School Of Rock, despite not possessing conventional Hollywood leading man looks.

The star believes it's because he is seen as more attainable to cinemagoers compared to sex symbols Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt.

He says, "I think it's all down to the fact that I am perceived as gettable, whereas with Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, there's no prayer. The girls have no chance with ...

Notable Quotables

Jack Black
"It can be a bummer. People have been carrying around Shallow Hal billboards at concerts. That's not really heavy metal." Singer/actor Jack Black admits his movie career hasn't done much for his rock 'n' roll image.

"I did not have sexual relations with that van driver - I don't s**g old men." British pop star George Michael laughs off his alleged late night encounter with a male stranger on London's Hampstead Heath earlier this year.

"There was a small gene pool around us and the girls that were with Oasis one night were with us the next." British rock rivals Blur and Oasis had...

Jack Black: 'I Don't Get Hung Up on Weight'

November 13th, 2006 1:02pm EST
Jack Black
Jack Black has ruled out crash dieting simply to secure a movie role, insisting Hollywood's obsession with weight is stupid. The portly star, 37, who recently admitted to "selling out" when he made the 2001 comedy Shallow Hal alongside Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow, remains unmoved by Tinseltown's preoccupation with svelte stars.

He says, "I don't get hung up on weight. If a director said I'd get a role but I'd have to lose five pounds, I could do that by tomorrow - losing the first few pounds is easy. But if someone asked me to lose, say, 30 pounds for a film, it'd have to be an awful...

Jack Black Thinks He Sold Out by Making 'Shallow Hal'

October 12th, 2006 9:03am EDT
Jack Black
Jack Black believes he "sold out" by making the 2001 comedy Shallow Hal, although he didn't intend to make a mainstream movie. Black was keen to work with filmmaking siblings Bobby and Peter Farrelly and Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow, but didn't anticipate the movie would turn out the way it did.

He says, "I feel I kind of sold out a little bit when I did the movie 'Shallow Hal.' I had an opportunity to work with some dudes I thought were really funny, but it didn't turn out as I'd hoped, I wasn't proud of it, and I got paid a lot of money, so in retrospect it feels like a sel...
