A 38-year-old man who has spent most of his life in an iron lung enlists the help of a sexual surrogate in order to lose his virginity in "The Sessions," a drama starring Oscar-nominated actor John Hawkes and inspired by the life of poet/journalist Mark O'Brien.

With the support of an unconventional priest (William H. Macy) and a devoted team of caretakers, the virginal writer hires a compassionate sex surrogate (Helen Hunt), who finds her life profoundly transformed by their tender sessions.

Two Jews On Their Top Ten Films Of 2012

January 6th, 2013 10:55pm EST
Life of Pi
2012 was a great year for films - studio films as well as Indy titles all scored big.

From the exquisite writing, directing, special effects, I found myself laughing hysterically from a foul mouth, over-sexed pot smoking bear, to a bunch of folks freaking out at the prospect of turning 40.

We had cutting edge performances from Matthew McConaughey ('Killer Joe' & 'The Paper Boy), Nicole Kidman ('The Paper Boy'), John Hawkes and Helen Hunt ('The Sessions') as well as Daniel Day Lewis ('Lincoln') Anthony Hopkins (Hitchcock) and the whole cast of 'Django Unchained'.

As usual, John and I didn...

The Sessions
Every so often a film comes along that lifts your spirits and makes you feel that anything and everything is possible.

'The Sessions' starring John Hawkes and Helen Hunt is just such a film.

This is the true story of a man named Mark O'Brien, who lived in Berkeley CA in the 1980's.

Mark is different from most people. He contacted polio as a child and is confined to an Iron Lung. The only part of his body that isn't paralyzed is his head, which he can move slightly to the side. He is also dependent on a breathing tube and a caregiver.

But this isn't the tale of a disabled dude that lie...

Alex Cross Poster
Sorry I was MIA last week folks. I had screenings of “Argo,” “Seven Psychopaths,” and “Flight” three nights in a row. The screening of “Flight” was particularly exciting because I got to meet director Robert Zemeckis beforehand. It was an honor to shake hands with the man responsible for “Back to the Future,” one of my top five all-time favorite films. In case you missed my review of “Argo,” check it out. Reviews of “Seven Psychopaths” and “Flight” should be coming soon as well.

Coming to theaters this week, we have the crime thriller “Alex Cross” starring Tyler Perry; the fourth “Parano...

October 4th, 2012 6:09pm EDT
Helen Hunt
Actress Helen Hunt is urging parents to take their teenagers to see her new movie The Sessions - even though she gets naked in the film for lovemaking sessions with an incapacitated polio victim.

Hunt bares all for the movie and though she accepts parents might not want their kids to see the film, the actress is convinced it offers valuable lessons about sex and sensuality.

She tells WENN, "I want people to take their 15 and 16-year-old kids to it. I really think it's a perfect movie for kids of that age to see. A lot of kids I know are feeling their way in the dark when it comes to sex...
