June 17th, 2013 8:41pm EDT
Salma Hayek
Actress Salma Hayek refused to pre-record a video acceptance speech for April's (13) MTV Movie Awards after learning her category for Best Latino Actor would not even be televised.

The Hollywood star was excited when she was told she had a good chance of winning the prize for her performance as a Mexican cartel boss in Oliver Stone's 2012 crime thriller Savages, but her glee soon turned to anger after realising she wouldn't get any screen time during the main Los Angeles ceremony if she did claim victory.

She tells InStyle magazine, "When they told me I (might win), I was asked to tape a ...

'Savages' Movie Review: Two Pot Dealers And A Girl

July 6th, 2012 11:07am EDT
Savages
Savages is about what you think -- people who are cruel, hostile and have reverted to a more animal nature. Which is ironic given that marijuana is supposed to make people happy and mellow. Could this fascinating metaphor for capitalism be director Oliver Stone’s best work in years?

Given humanity’s savage roots, it makes sense that two alpha male pot lords, Ben and Chon , manage to share one alpha female hippie-chick, Ophelia . And when I say share, I mean share. How can that be? She loves them both.

Ex-NAVY seal Chon, who verges on the edge of post-traumatic stress disorder, is Ophel...

John Travolta & Kelly Preston Couldn't Keep Their Hands Off Each Other At 'Savages' Premiere

June 26th, 2012 8:32am EDT
John Travolta & Kelly Preston
John Travolta is having a bad year. A third male masseur recently stepped forward claiming the actor sexually assaulted him. The cruise ship steward alleges the actor exposed himself during a massage in 2009.

This comes on the heels of lawsuits from two other masseurs who claimed the star acted inappropriately; they consequently dropped their cases. Some have speculated the actor paid them off to avoid further public scrutiny.

Despite the legal drama, Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston were all smiles and very affectionate at the "Savages" premiere in Los Angeles yesterday. The couple, w...

Salma Hayek Had To Talk Tough To Win 'Savages' Role

October 6th, 2011 2:56pm EDT
Salma Hayek
Actress Salma Hayek had to prove she was tough enough to play the head of a drug cartel in Oliver Stone's upcoming movie Savages, because the director feared motherhood had turned her "all soft".

The Frida star has scaled down her work load since becoming a mother to four-year-old daughter Valentina and settling down with her husband Francois-Henri Pinault, and her comfortable home life had Stone worried she wasn't right for the leading role in the crime thriller.

Hayek tells Redbook magazine, "I'm playing the queen of a drug cartel in an Oliver Stone film. He asked if I'd gone 'all sof...
