Romace & CigarettesA study released today in the journal Pediatrics shows a direct link between viewing smoking in movies and adolescents who then choose to start smoking. Conducted by Dr. James Sargent at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, New Hampshire, and funded by the National Cancer Institute, the study, Exposure to Movie Smoking: Its Relation to Smoking Initiation Among U.S. Adolescents, is the first national study to indicate that young people have a higher risk of lighting up as their exposure to movie smoking increases.
