'The King's Speech' vs. 'The Social Network' for Best Picture
What do the Academy Awards and March Madness have in common? Both are singular events that everybody can gamble on. Who doesn’t like an event in which everybody you know can fill out a pool sheet or bracket, go to a party and stand amongst everyone in the room with their fists up to their mouths as they agonize over the results? Like March Madness, the Oscars are great because you don’t need to be an expert on all movies to win. In fact, you don’t even have to have seen many of the films. If you stay plugged in, chances are you’ve heard all about all the buzzworthy titles, and can and are i...

The Five Most Underrated & Overrated Sports Movies
Sports movies are often beloved but rarely good. It's hard to say why it is so difficult to make a great sports movie. It could be that there is far more drama in actually following sports than there is in watching a dramatized version on film. It could also be that it is so hard to make a sports movie that doesn't seem entirely unrealistic yet is filled with the appropriate amount of drama. Whatever the case, it's about as hard to make a great sports movie as it is to hit a Jake Peavy fastball.
Despite this, it seems more and more sports films are made each year, and even as the qu...

What's The Best Show On TV Right Now? Starpulse Writers Weigh In
What makes a TV show great? Is it the number of viewers or awards it has received? Not necessarily. In its last season, less than 3 million people tuned in to an episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," but it is unarguably one of the best sci-fi/fantasy shows of all time. In seven seasons, the show won just one Emmy - in 1998 for outstanding makeup. Guess what other fan favorite won just one Emmy (also for outstanding makeup)? Gilmore Girls.
