Days of Thunder

Enjoyable from a summer popcorn flick standpoint, Days of Thunder started the idea of the "Tom Cruise Movie." The issue with this film is that it is basically Top Gun in NASCAR, and Top Gun had a similar structure of The Color of Money. Cruise isn't playing a character he hasn't played b...

Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise shunned extravagant material gifts when he landed his first big acting paycheck - he used the money to pay for one of his sisters to attend college instead.

He tells People magazine, "I paid for one of my sisters' college education. And my little sister worked for me when I had a paper route; I always told her I'd pay her back. I bought her a car after 'Risky Business.'"

TOM CRUISE
Tom Cruise has revived his foul-mouthed, bad-tempered "Tropic Thunder" character Les Grossman for a series of skits to promote the upcoming MTV Movie Awards.

The Hollywood star was virtually unrecognizable as he donned a fat suit and a bad cap to play the dancing movie executive in the hit 2008 film - a role which earned Cruise a Golden Globe nomination.

He has now stepped back into character to film promos for the awards ceremony, which is due to take place on June 6.

In one scene Grossman, who is billed as the award show's producer, is seen giving career advice to "Twilight" hunk Rober...

Tom Cruise: How He Should Salvage His Image

January 9th, 2009 10:30am EST
Tom Cruise
He has been one of the most well known actors in Hollywood for almost three decades now, and there are few people who can deny the star power of that shiny giant grin. Thomas Cruise Mapother IV, known to the world as Tom Cruise, is a figure of gossip, lust, admiration, disgust, celebrity, confusion, and in the past few years his reputation has gotten steadily tarnished. Perhaps it was the Oprah Winfrey Show and his newfound love with Katie Holmes, who once had pictures him plastered on her walls, or his war with Brooke Shields over post partum, or how he sometimes laughs for several minutes...

Top Career-Defining Film Roles

April 22nd, 2008 8:30am EDT
The Silence Of The Lambs
Ever seen a movie with some little-known or vaguely recognizable actor and then had to ask yourself, 'Who WAS that person?' Or have you seen an actor in a movie that suddenly made you see that person in a whole new light? For some actors, all it takes is one role to make their movie careers flourish. Following is a list of some of our favorite career-making performances in no particular order:

1) Julia Roberts in "Pretty Woman"

It's probably one of the most obvious "career launching" roles of the last 30 years, but no compilation of career-defining movies would be complete without i...

Before Lindsay Lohan became a Mean Girl and Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron became High School Musical sweethearts, Winona Ryder was a Heather and Molly Ringwald and Andrew McCarthy were our favorite couple from two different worlds.

Today's popular teen flicks would have never existed without the high school classics that made and shaped the genre. 15 Memorable Music Scenes On Film

October 16th, 2007 10:08am EDT
William Shakespeare
As a film junkie and music geek I always look forward to seeing what songs directors will put in certain scenes to create the right mood. Finding the perfect song isn't always easy. The song has to fit that key moment or it could ruin the movie.

Following is a list of songs that have really made a movie scene stand out. I'm sure you will notice two things about me: I love chick flicks and 80's movies. This wasn't an easy task. I found over 50 songs and cut the list down to 15 with a few honorable mentions.

15) "Kissing You" by Des'Ree from the movie "Romeo + Juliet" (1996)
