7 Video Game Titles Based on Hit Hollywood Productions
Most video game fans cringe when they hear they're favorite franchise is being given the Hollywood treatment. From the likes of

Angelina Jolie's Tomb Raider to Uwe Boll's Far Cry, Tinsel Town has often struggled at adapting video game blockbusters to the big screen.

If there's any consolation here, it's that the video game industry has demonstrated that it has no problem with the conversion between media genres when it's the other way around.

Here are 7 of the best video games based on or inspired by major Hollywood franchises.

Kingdom Hearts

Ok, so the first entry isn't so much base...

Vin Diesel Dances To Katy Perry & Beyonce To Express How Thrilled He Is Over 'Riddick' Success

January 28th, 2014 10:47pm EST
Vin Diesel Dances To Katy Perry & Beyonce To Express How Thrille
Vin Diesel is a huge fan of pop music, and the star proved it by posting a video of himself dancing to Katy Perry's "Drunk In Love" and Beyonce's "Drunk In Love."

"You know I love music..." he captioned the video on his Facebook page.

During the video, Diesel dances and lip-syncs along to Katy's hit single, stopping to reveal that he just got some great news about his sci-fi flick Riddick.

"Guys, I'm just excited, I'm happy..." he says, "and I'm... shouting out to you guys to say thank you -- Universal just called me and told me that "Riddick" is No. 1 on the DVD charts... There's no way...

'Riddick' Arrives: A Conversation With Co-Star Jordi Molla

January 13th, 2014 6:20pm EST
Riddick
How would you like to be the person who has to go up against Vin Diesel? That was the job of Jordi Molla, who played the role of bounty hunter Santana in Riddick. BFTV recently chatted with the Spanish actor, director, writer and artist about serving as the antagonist to the Fast & Furious star, and getting punched in the face by Katee Sackhoff.

"I'd seen both movies but that was months and months before. I saw them and basically I forgot them," he said, explaining what it was like to join the Riddick franchise. "I thought that I had more than enough [information] with the script and the a...

'Riddick' Arrives: A Conversation With Co-Star Raoul Trujillo

January 13th, 2014 2:17pm EST
Riddick
The Vin Diesel-led Riddick hits Blu-Ray and DVD Tuesday, and to celebrate, we're chatting with a few of the actors who helped bring the awesome sci-fi epic to life. On Friday, BFTV connected with Raoul Trujillo, who played Lockspur in the flick, to discuss what he loved about it and his lengthy, varied career.

Was Riddick as fun for him to make as it was for us to watch? "It really was," Raoul told us. "That's the thing about these green screen movies that aren't on location. They're just fun. None of this stuff is real. None of it's there. The cast was brilliant. And [it was] in my favori...

Weekend Box Office: 'Prisoners' Takes An Easy First

September 23rd, 2013 8:36am EDT
Prisoners
The well reviewed Hugh Jackman pic beat expectations and was crowned the champion (by a long shot). It should play well over the coming weeks with increasing awards buzz. The film received a B+ cinemascore, so word of mouth will be good, but not The Butler sized.

1) Prisoners- 21.4M Weekend, 21.4M Total

2) Insidious: Chapter 2- 14.2M Weekend, 50.5M Total

The horror sequel dipped 64% in week two, pretty typical for this genre. A third installment has already been ordered, as the sequel will definitely outgross the original.

3) The Family- 7.0M Weekend, 25.6M Total

Robert DeNiro’s limpin...

Box Office Predictions: 'Insidious Chapter 2' Will Take The Weekend

September 13th, 2013 10:45am EDT
Insidious Chapter 2
1) Insidious: Chapter 2- 20.0M Weekend, 20.0M Total

The original opened to 13M, and eventually grossed 54M domestically. The sequel benefits from a painfully dead box office, solid word of mouth, and The Conjuring, which scared up good audiences in July. People may watch Insidious 2 without having seen the original. 20M for the weekend is likely.

2) The Family- 12M Weekend, 12M Total

Robert DeNiro and Michelle Pfieffer star in a mob dramedy that is tracking soft, but is opening into an empty marketplace. The marketing push for this has been solid, with Luc Besson and Martin Scorsese on a...

Weak Opening For Vin Diesel's 'Riddick' Enough To Top Slow Weekend Box Office

September 9th, 2013 12:47pm EDT
Riddick
Vin Diesel's latest film, Riddick, has knocked Lee Daniels' The Butler from the top spot at the U.S. box office.

The second sequel to 2000's Pitch Black -- which the actor produced -- pulled in $18.7 million for its opening weekend, topping Daniels' civil rights chronicle by nearly $10 million.

"Riddick" was the only wide release for the weekend, which saw Eugenio Derbez's surprise hit Spanish-language movie Instructions Not Included move up a spot to number three, adding $8.1 million to its two week total of $20.3 million.

Jennifer Aniston comedy We're the Millers remains in the top-fiv...

Box Office Predictions: Riddick Is A Clear Winner

September 6th, 2013 9:40pm EDT
Riddick
1) Riddick- 18M Weekend, 18M Total

Riddick should clearly win the weekend. Vin Diesel is hot off of his Fast sequel this summer, and the Riddick sequel seems to return the franchise to the Pitch Black roots, instead of the nonsense that happened in Chronicles. The Resident Evil franchise has done well in September, and Riddick should mirror that to an extent. Of course, you have the people who hated Chronicles Of Riddick, and may be waiting for their friends to say that this film is worth watching before heading out.

2) The Butler- 10M Weekend, 93M Total

Heading for the 100M mark, The Bu...

Vin Diesel Leveraged His House To Finance 'Riddick'

August 30th, 2013 9:02am EDT
Vin Diesel
Vin Diesel put his home at jeopardy to complete production on his latest film Riddick.

The Hollywood tough guy has played anti-hero Richard B. Riddick in two movies - Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick - and now he's reprising his role in the franchise's latest film, due out next month.

However, Diesel has faced a nine-year battle to make the movie, which didn't have the financial backing of its predecessors, forcing the actor to use his own money to complete the project.

The 46 year-old actor tells The Hollywood Reporter, "I had to leverage my house. If we didn't finish the fi...
