Disney Launching New 'Star Wars' Animated Series In 2014
Just months after acquiring Lucasfilm in a multi-billion-dollar deal and announcing a plan to continue the Star Wars movie saga well into the future -- starting with "Star Wars Episode VII" in 2015 -- Disney has announced the development of a new animated series, "Star Wars Rebels," which is set to premiere in fall 2014.
The announcement comes on the heels of the studio's cancellation of the Cartoon Network's "Star Wars: The Clone Wars," animated series, a move that was made because the show aired on the rival network, owned by Time Warner.

A lightsaber brandished by Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars trilogy is expected to fetch up to $50,000 at an upcoming auction.
The film prop used by actor Mark Hamill in 1983's Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi is one of a number of items due to go under the hammer in a new Profiles in History sale, alongside an original X-Wing Fighter miniature, estimated between $80,000 and $120,000, and an Imperial Royal Guard helmet, which is thought to be worth at least $40,000.

George Lucas Pays Tribute To 'Star Wars' Artist Ralph McQuarrie
George Lucas has paid tribute to Ralph McQuarrie, the artist who helped him bring his Star Wars vision to the big screen, after his death on Saturday.
McQuarrie was 82 years old when he passed away at his home in Berkeley, California.
The illustrator is best known for designing the look of Lucas' best-known characters, including Darth Vader, Chewbacca, R2-D2 and C-3PO, and also imagined sets for the hit sci-fi franchise.
He also created the alien spaceships in Steven Spielberg's Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T., and won an Academy Award in 1985 for Visual Effects in Cocoon.

Andrew Ainsworth made the headgear for the original movies and started selling the Stormtrooper helmets in 2004, to fans who wanted to wear them for fancy dress parties.
