The Best & Worst Reese Witherspoon Films

November 21st, 2008 10:09am EST
Reese Witherspoon
Even Oscar winning actresses like Reese Witherspoon have made a few films that aren't worth seeing. Reese is adorable, bubbly and likeable as an actress and as a person. She's probably best known for her role as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde because no one could have played that part better than she did. However, there were a few stale moments in her career where her movies failed to leave a mark in Hollywood.

THE WORST

Just Like Heaven- This 2005 film co-starring Mark Ruffalo was so far fetched it was even hard to believe as a movie. Reese played a doctor who went into a coma afte...

Hollywood Couples With A Short Shelf Life

Ashlee Simpson & Pete Wentz
Some Hollywood couplings make you go, "Huh?" Take Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer for example. When Jen was married to Brad Pitt - that was hot. When she was linked to Orlando Bloom - that was interesting. But her pairing with John Mayer is, if it is anything at all, is probably just a passing fancy.

It's a fact that many celebrities enjoy keeping their options open. They may date for a while, but often the relationships end in heartache. Take Justin Timberlake. He dated both Britney Spears and Cameron Diaz. He's now linked to Jessica Biel. But unlike many stars who get hitched...

Are There Any Bankable Actresses in Hollywood?

March 11th, 2008 2:30pm EDT
Halle Berry in Things We Lost In The Fire
Not too long ago Warner Bros. president of production, Jeff Robinov, stated, "We are no longer doing movies with women in the lead." Apparently, Robinov won't even look at a script with a female lead. Is this man spewing forth misogynistic quackery, or is he, as a businessman, simply stating the obvious - that women no longer come with built-in audiences, opening weekend numbers, and box office success?

Ticking off the names of guaranteed male money makers is easy: Will Smith, Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell, Tom Cruise, Bruce Willis, Jim Carrey, and even behind-the-camera ...

War Comes to Hollywood

Redacted
As far back as the 30s, celebrities and even cartoon characters endorsed the purchase of war bonds to support World War I. Then again, there were those who opposed war. For example, producers came up with films such as "Johnny Got his Gun" in 1971, which was based on the 1938 anti-war novel by Dalton Trumbo.

Today the genre has become a standard by directors, writers, and producers who have a missive for the mass audience. Although many films, such as Robert Altman's 1970 film "M*A*S*H," were thinly disguised as the Korean War to show opposition to Vietnam, just as many were made f...

Meryl Streep
Meryl Streep is set to star in a movie version of the hit ABBA-inspired musical 'Mamma Mia.' This will be the first big screen musical for the actress, however, she has previously displayed her vocal talents in A Prairie Home Companion, Postcards From the Edge and Death Becomes Her.
