January 16th, 2012 3:29pm EST
Quentin Tarantino
The highly acclaimed Reservoir Dogs director, Quentin Tarantino, recently released a list of his Top 11 favorite movies of 2011, via The Quentin Tarantino Archives. The list is extremely varied, including a bunch of both mainstream and indie films. Although, some entries are quite unexpected, for example, The Three Musketeers was Tarantino’s 11th favorite movie. The number 1 spot was awarded to Woody Allen’s charming, Midnight in Paris, a complete opposite film compared to that of his favorite in 2010, a la, Toy Story 3.

Alas, with the good, always comes the bad and so Tarantino has also i...

So it’s kind of a bummer to see the big buffoon turned into a murderous monster who eventually gets bludgeoned to death by his father. Lon Chaney Jr. gives perhaps the most h...

The Ides of March

This weekend has an interesting match-up for the box office: George Clooney’s “The Ides of March,” a sure Oscar contender, vs. “Real Steel,” a robot boxing film starring Hugh Jackman. In “Ides,” Clooney, who directed and co-wrote the screenplay, stars as a promising presidential candidate whose young, idealistic aid (Ryan Gosling) sees the dark underbelly of what political campaigns are really about. Expect amazing performances from the entire cast which also includes Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, Maris Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood.

This September will have some decent films to choose from (namely "Contagion" and "Drive"), but with a greater amount of less-than-impressive fare than is normally seen. Either way, this first month in the awards season will have moviegoers flocking to the cinema nearly every weekend.
