John Cusack Matching Donations Made To Freedom Of The Press

John Cusack has pledged to match donations of up to $10,000 to the Freedom of the Press Foundation to help support investigative journalism.

The Raven star, who serves on the organization's Board of Directors, has long been committed to ensuring reporters have the money they need to focus on issues of public interest, like exposing mismanagement, corruption, and law-breaking in the government.

And now Cusack has challenged fans to help raise funds for the non-profit by offering to double each gift.

Actor John Cusack suffered for his art while playing literary legend Edgar Allen Poe in new period thriller The Raven - his director insisted he go home to rest when the film wrapped.

The High Fidelity star admits he became so engrossed in the writer's madness and alcoholism that the project sucked the life out of him on the set in wintery Hungary and Serbia.

In a surprise twist, "Think Like A Man" landed a second week at the top of the box office. In the film, four men realize their significant others have been taking relationship tips from Steve Harvey's best-selling book "Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man." The men then use the book's teachings to give the ladies a taste of their own medicine.

The comedy stars Kevin Hart, Gabrielle Union and Michael Ealy and took home $18 million. It has made over $60 million in 10 days.

John Cusack stars as legendary mystery writer Edgar Allan Poe in The Raven, which opens in theaters tomorrow, and so far the reviews of the film are tell-tale signs that point to it being a disappointment.

The film reportedly takes place in the week before Poe's death, when a series of murders lead to the writer joining with a Baltimore detective to stop a psychotic serial killer who is using Poe's classic tales of the macabre to carry out a series of gruesome murders.

And so far the reviews aren't too good.

John Cusack was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday. He was joined by his sister Joan Cusack and former co-stars Jack Black ("High Fidelity"), Dan Akroyd ("Grosse Pointe Blank"), and Billy Bob Thornton ("Pushing Tin").

John Cusack got into the spirit at "The Raven" Los Angeles premiere last night by hanging out with a, well, raven.

It wasn't exactly a star-studded event. Richard Greico ("21 Jump Street") was there, and so was comedy actress Krysten Ritter from "Don't Trust The B---- In Apartment 23." Reality star Audrina Patridge also made an appearance.

In the film, Cusack plays Edgar Allen Poe who joins forces with a bright, young Baltimore detective to catch a serial killer who has been using the author's writings as inspiration.

Actor John Cusack lost 25 pounds for his role as Edgar Allen Poe in new movie The Raven, because he wanted to be just as "gaunt" as the famed author.

The Being John Malkovich star underwent quite the physical transformation before heading to Serbia to shoot the movie, which revolves around Poe helping to solve a series of murders inspired by his own stories.

British actress Alice Eve flew into a panic on the set of upcoming thriller The Raven after filming scenes in a closed coffin.

The Sex and the City 2 star's character is buried alive in the new movie, and Eve struggled to control her fear of enclosed spaces.

She tells Access Hollywood, "I definitely was claustrophobic. When they first put me in the coffin and they nailed the lid down, all the air went out of the coffin and I panicked... Then I had to learn there's only so much oxygen in a confined space and you have to sip the air... which is a good tip."

John Cusack has confirmed he is set to play Edgar Allan Poe in a new murder mystery.

The actor will star as the horror writer in director James McTeigue's forthcoming "The Raven," a fictionalized account of Poe's mysterious last days chasing a serial killer.

In a post on Twitter, Cusack announces: "Official I will play Edgar Allen Poe in fall. A film called The Raven, send any Poe gold my way as I begin this journey into the abyss."

Ewan McGregor and Jeremy Renner were previously in talks for the project but their parts were not specified. It is unclear if either actor is still involved....
