Rambo creator David Morrell has signed on to revive comic book hero Captain America after the patriotic crimefighter was killed off by Marvel Comics bosses at the beginning of the summer.

Danny Glover has categorically ruled out a fifth Lethal Weapon film, despite the recent resurgence of interest in 1980s action movies. The star, who played Roger Murtaugh in the police thriller that spawned three sequels, refuses to follow in the footsteps of Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis and Harrison Ford who have committed to new Rocky, Rambo, Die Hard and Indiana Jones installments.

Jackie Chan turned down the chance to appear in the next Rambo movie but hasn't ruled out appearing alongside Sylvester Stallone one day. The Hong Kong action star is great friends with Stallone, and the pair has often promised each other they will team up on the big screen. Fans hoped Stallone's comeback as Vietnam veteran John Rambo would signal their first movie together.
