Prince shunning old musicians for new artists
Soul icon Prince prefers to explore new collaborations with young artists instead of veteran musicians because he has "no time for old people".
The Purple Rain hitmaker, who has worked with Chaka Khan and veteran funk star Larry Graham, wants to help put up-and coming-stars on the map and help them create their own legacy, just like he's doing with his new all-female backing band, 3rdEyeGirl - a trio from his own hometown.
He tells StarTribune.com, "I don't have time for old people. I want to work with young people. I have my legacy. It's time for their legacy. They're a Minneapolis band,...

Sandra Bullock Wants To Be Prince's Muse
Sandra Bullock fantasizes about seducing Prince, so she can be the inspiration behind the singer's next sexy hit. The actress has idolized the Purple Rain hit maker since her early teens but was too shy to meet the star when she had the chance.
She explains, "There was a moment in New York in some nightclub when he was there years ago when I was a waitress. I kept walking by him, hoping he would notice. He never looked at me. I think maybe he saw me once and wrote me off and I'm pretending I might have a chance to inspire a Prince song."

'Dear Slim' - An Open Rhyme To Eminem
Dear Slim,
I'm writing this on behalf of many fans,
who once upon a time believed that you were it - the Man.
In 99' I heard "My Name Is" for the very first time,
and instantly believed it was the most entertaining rhyme,
That I'd heard since Busta Rhymes, back in 97',
but I leap-frogged you ahead of a ton of rappers- to maybe top eleven.
I was so friggin sure that you were the genuine article,
that I jammed out to your album way more than Wyclef's Carnival.
Gimmicks aside (and forget the potty humor), whenever your name was mentioned I wo...

Race Matters: Is Hollywood Truly Color Blind When It Comes To On-Screen Romance?
In John Grisham's bestselling novel "The Pelican Brief," investigative journalist Gray Grantham and law student Darby Shaw uncover a political conspiracy and in the process, end up between the sheets. In the 1993 film version, Darby Shaw (played by Julia Roberts) and Grantham merely share a chaste hug in the film's conclusion. What happened between page and screen? One theory: In the novel Grantham is white; in the film, he's portrayed by Academy-Award winning - and black - actor Denzel Washington.

Top Ten 80s Movie Soundtracks
Starpulse recently ran a 'Top Ten 80s Albums' list, in which the inclusion of the Top Gun soundtrack inspired me to come up with a list of the "Top Ten 80s Movie Soundtracks." After doing a little 'freshening up,' both through my own personal collection, growing-up-80's memories and, oh, some website that has info about movies & music and the like, I've narrowed my list down to the top ten.
(And no, "Top Gun" didn't take my breath away and make it onto the list)
The main criteria used here is that only the film had to be released in the 80s, not the music contained on its soundtrack. I...
