December 29th, 2012 7:22pm EST

The news comes as a surprise to industry buffs - the found-footage project solely features unknown actors and only grossed $100 million at the international box office.

Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol came in second, while The Dark Knight Rises was third.

Also making...

March 2nd, 2012 1:00pm EST
Project X
Two Jews on Film - By Joan Alperin Schwartz: Three high school seniors throw a birthday party that spirals out of control and their lives will never be the same.

Okay, right off the bat, I have to say that 'Project X' directed by Nima Nourizadeh, written by Matt Drake and Michael Baldwin is crazy hysterical, outrageous fun and super clever.

I loved this film.

Shot in the 'found footage' style, it tells the story of three teenagers, Tom (Thomas Mann) Costa (Oliver Cooper) and JB (Jonathan Daniel Brown) who yearn to be 'popular'.

Costa, who could be cast on the reality ...

Trailer Talk: This Week in Movies
In the week leading up to last night’s Academy Awards, I managed to watch the remaining Best Picture nominees that I had not seen: “The Artist,” “Hugo,” “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close,” “The Help,” and “Midnight in Paris.”

My favorite of the bunch was “The Artist,” which I thought definitely deserved its Best Picture win. For me personally, Alexander Payne’s “The Descendants” was a close second, followed by Woody Allen’s quirky, yet romantic “Midnight in Paris.” “Hugo” and “The Help” were incredibly overrated and “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” was too long and morose for my...

Alexis Knapp Had Moral Issues With 'Project X' Nude Scene
Former model and burgeoning actress Alexis Knapp had a big opportunity in the new film Project X. The Todd Phillips produced film stars a cast of all fresh faces in a major release. However, her character required Knapp to push some of her personal boundaries. As the dream girl of the hero, she ultimately has to appear topless in a seduction scene.

“My hookup scene was challenging for myself, not because Thomas [Mann] is in any form repulsive,” Knapp said. “He’s great, wonderful kisser. But I just had a lot of moral issues with it but I got over it and I heard that it’s not that revealing....
