French actor Maurice Marsac has died after suffering a heart attack. He was 92. Marsac passed away at a hospital care facility in Santa Rosa, California last month, just three weeks after his wife of 55 years, Melanie, died in her sleep at the age of 90.

Country singer Janette Carter, of cuuntry music's founding family, the Carters, 82 (1/22); and actor Chris Penn, 40, brother of actor Sean Penn who starred in Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs (1/24). And Coretta Scott King (76), civil rights activist and wife of Martin Luther King, Jr (1/30).

Beloved comedian Red Buttons has died following a vascular disease. He was 87. The red-headed funnyman, who won a 1957 Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role in Sayonara, died at his home, surrounded by family members, yesterday.

Poseidon Adventure star Carol Lynley is less than impressed by the new remake Poseidon, branding it "boring." Lynley played Nonnie Parry in the 1972 film, the role taken by The Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie in the new blockbuster. The 64-year-old actress hates the latest version, and wishes Hollywood could have just left the story alone instead of trying to better the original.

Mission:Impossible III has scored a second weekend at the top of the box office, fighting off maritime disaster film Poseidon. After underwhelming moviegoers last weekend, the Tom Cruise thriller was still able to retain first place with ticket sales of $24.5 million.

Emmy Rossum feels lucky to have wrapped disaster film Poseidon in one piece - she was the only lead cast member healthy at the end of the underwater shoot. Rossum and co-stars Kurt Russell, Josh Lucas and Mia Maestro all spent six months in huge water tanks filming the Poseidon Adventure remake, and they all were forced to check into hospital with illnesses, cuts and bruises.

Superman Returns will be simultaneously released in both IMAX and conventional theatres on June 30, 2006. In addition, Poseidon, a re-envisioning of the 1972 classic The Poseidon Adventure, will be simultaneously released on May 12, 2006.
