'Blue Valentine' Director Condemns Hollywood Gun Violence As 'Fetishized'
Derek Cianfrance director of the 2010 Sundance hit, Blue Valentine has publicly announced his distaste for Hollywood's use of excessive graphic violence, calling moviemakers "irresponsible" for portraying onscreen use of guns as "cool."
Constant debate has raged over how guns are, or should be, portrayed in movies, sparked by the tragedy that happened in Newtown, Conn., last December when 20 children and six adults died after they were gunned down at the Sandy Hook elementary school. Since then, politicians and many others have taken sides on the reignited gun control debate - a debate t...

Ryan Gosling Laments 'The Place Beyond The Pines' Tattoo
Ryan Gosling regretted festooning his face with a fake tattoo for new movie The Place Beyond The Pines as he couldn't bear to look in the mirror afterwards.
The Drive star plays a motorbike rider in a traveling circus who turns to crime to help support his baby, and Gosling wanted to show his character's questionable lifestyle choices through his tattoos.
However, the actor hated the eventual design choice, a dagger dripping blood by his left eye, and even complained to director Derek Cianfrance. Nonetheless, Cianfrance was unsympathetic and ordered Gosling to put up with the fake inkin...

Review: 'The Place Beyond The Pines' Provides Lots To Endure
Following director Derek Cianfrance's harsh portrayal of love in "Blue Valentine," this film, "The Place Beyond The Pines," starts off like what seems to be a crime drama. The film however shifts into a dark tale on relationships between fathers and sons and the horrible legacies left behind.
The film is divided into three short-film-like-acts. Act one follows carnival stunt rider Luke (Ryan Gosling), who is visited after a show in Schenectady, NY by Romina (Eva Mendes); with whom he had a fling with the last time his carnival passed through the city.

Eva Mendes Had Certain Tricks To Look Old For 'Place Beyond The Pines' Role
In order to play a haggard, single mom in upcoming film "The Place Beyond The Pines," Eva Mendes shaved back her eyebrows and dug out ill-fitting jean shorts from her teenage years.
She told WENN, "I wanted to make sure that you could see it on her face and on her body. I did certain little tricks that I'd like to keep secret to make sure I looked haggard and that time had its way with me. I did the obvious greying of my hair, but one of the tricks I did was to shave down my eyebrows to a very, very thin point which I don't really recommend for an every day look.
