'The Pink Panther' Takes Top Spot at Box Office

Steve Martin's portrayal of Inspector Clouseau in The Pink Panther pounced to the top of the box office with a $21.7 million in its opening weekend. The remake of the 1963 comedy classic opened to mixed reviews but was able to sneak past horror film Final Destination 3, which grossed $20.1 million.

Peter Sellers Gets No Credit for Creating 'Pink Panther' Character

Late comic legend Peter Sellers would have been horrified to learn his name has been left off the credits of the new Pink Panter remake. The British funnyman played Inspector Jacques Clouseau in the original Pink Panther movies of the 1960s and 1970s - a role which has now been taken over by Steve Martin.

In the credits for this year's remake producers have credited the original film's director Blake Edwards and late scriptwriter Maurice Richlin for the creation of Clouseau, when in fact Sellers came up with a lot of the character's bumbling trademarks.

Funnyman Steve Martin insists fans will never see his bloopers on film sets because he refuses to let TV cameras shoot the proceedings. The star hates to think of a DVD featuring his mistakes and on-set gags and so he insists all his directors ban outside film crews from his sets.

Funnyman Steve Martin has filmed a new public service announcement in a bid to urge filmgoers to turn off their cell phones at the movies. The actor recreates his recent role as bumbling detective Inspector Clouseau in The Pink Panther for the new big screen advertisement, which will be shown at cinemas this Christmas.

In the public service announcement, Martin's Clouseau complains when a cell phone starts ringing while he's watching a movie, and then realizes it's his. He then switches his phone to vibrate and receives a shock every time it goes off.
