Blake Edwards, Julie Andrews' Husband & 'Pink Panther' Creator, Dies At 88

Julie Andrews' husband, Pink Panther creator Blake Edwards, has died at the age of 88.

The director, writer and producer passed away at St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica, California on Wednesday night after suffering complications from pneumonia. His wife and other family members were by his bedside, according to his longtime publicist, Gene Schwam.

Born William Blake Crump in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Edwards began his career as an actor and screenwriter, penning seven scripts for late actor/filmmaker Richard Quine.

FORT-DE-FRANCE, Martinique (AP) - French actor Jean Reno has been released from a hospital in the Caribbean island of Martinique after falling ill.

Bernard Cavignaux is a director of the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Fort-de-France where Reno was attended. Cavignaux says Reno was vacationing in St. Barts when he became sick and was transferred by helicopter to Martinique's capital. He says the actor was advised to rest.

Tom Cruise is to star in a detective comedy with Ben Stiller, it has been claimed. The action hero will allegedly star alongside Stiller in an updated version of the classic comedy novels The Hardy Boys, called The Hardy Men. The movie sees the eternal teenagers finally grown up, but still up to their old tricks.

Production for the film, directed by Shawn Levy, is due to begin in October. Levy also directed Stiller's latest box office hit Night At The Museum as well as The Pink Panther and Cheaper By The Dozen.

Sony Pictures Surpasses $1 Billion in Box Office Dollars

Sony Pictures Entertainment has surpassed the $1 billion mark in box office receipts for calendar year 2006, making it the fifth year in a row the studio has reached that milestone at the box office.
