Paranormal Activity 3
The second "Paranormal Activity" sequel has scared up big audiences in America, grossing a staggering $54 million in its opening weekend.

The critically-acclaimed horror film has ended "Real Steel's" two-week run at the top of the U.S. box office.

Other new releases fared poorly - director Paul W.S. Anderson's "The Three Musketeers" revamp and Rowan Atkinson's "Johnny English Reborn" were big flops.

The Three Musketeers grossed a disappointing $8.8 million and comedy "Johnny English Reborn" made only $3.8 million at the box office.

'The Last Exorcism' DVD cover art.
Releasing on DVD and Blu-Ray January 4th, 2011, “The Last Exorcism” is the perfect film to watch while snuggled-up under a warm blanket on a cold winter’s night—especially if you like an actual story with your scares. We had an opportunity to interview Patrick Fabian, who portrays central character Reverend Cotton Marcus in the film. Fabian delivers a superb performance as Cotton, a surprisingly complex character for a horror flick, who questions his faith and ultimately faces the consequences of living a lie.

“The Last Exorcism” is filmed in the documentary-style seen in similar horror mo...

October 21st, 2010 12:00pm EDT
Paranormal Activity 2
Paramount has been secretive about the release of "Paranormal Activity 2" which opens in theaters this weekend and so far has kept it away from critics. Either the sequel flick is really bad or they're trying to hide a surprise in the film, which is what we're thinking.

A small number of reviews have begun trickling in at Rotten Tomatoes from twenty cities that got a free sneak peak of the film. Of the half dozen or so reviews, the majority are fresh.

Most of the reviews on RT seem to be from small independent websites. "PA2 is an absolute success that is smarter and scarier than the ori...

31 Days of Horror (Vampyr)
Greetings ghouls, goblins and basement dwellers!

Unless you’re in Southern California (113 degrees this week!) the weather is starting to cool off and the neighborhood trees are just starting to throw on their fall colors. The month of October means different things to all types of people: sports fans have football season hitting its stride, food-blog types have new vegetables to shill, kids have a lot of school to attend--which kind of sucks for them. For me the month of October means watching an unhealthy amount of horror movies.

For the past two years, I’ve watched a horror movie I had...

Star Trek
At the start of every new year, critics and movie fans alike look at the list of movies for the year and start to consider what looks the best, the worst, and what might surprise them. Joe," "New Moon") but still managed to kill in the box office. Then there were the indie films that managed to become hits, or the big star names that neve...

2009
As with every year there are dozens of great movies but there are even more really bad ones. 2009 will be marked by Quentin Tarantino and Sacha Baron Cohen comebacks along with a bevy of bad movies, highlighted by Megan Fox's performance in Jennifer's Body. There were plenty of good movies and we may have the most fun making fun of the bad and helpless ones, but let's take a look at the best movies of 2009.

Most blockbuster movies are filled with overrated stars (i.e. Will Smith and Tom Cruise) and are seemingly contrived, made only to make money. Thankfully this year there were not as ...

31 Days Of Horror - Wrap Up

November 2nd, 2009 3:35pm EST
Demons
With Halloween come and gone, Starpulse writer Kris King has wrapped up his horror movie marathon. For the last three days Kris deals with the demon apocalypse

in "Demons," gets beaten up by a large French man in "Martyrs," and makes a lot of boob jokes with "Elvira, Mistress of the Dark."

"Demons" starts off as a wickedly clever meta-movie. While Wes Craven's "Scream" discusses the rules of horror films and then applies them to its own story, the Dario Argento produced "Demons" goes a few steps further by setting the film in an old movie theater. "Demons" pu...
