'Inception' Dominates Visual Effects Society Awards

2/2/2011 8:38am EST
Leonardo DiCaprio's sci-fi blockbuster Inception is the toast of Hollywood's special effects business after winning four awards at the industry's top prizegiving.

The box office hit, directed by Christoper Nolan, reigned at the Visual Effects Society Awards on Tuesday night, scooping the show's top trophies including best vfx in a vfx-driven feature, as well as honors for compositing, created environments and models.

Nolan also received the organization's Visionary Award, telling the crowd as he picked up his prize, "I'm as dependent on vfx, maybe more so, as any other director out there....

2010 Emmys
It's Emmy time again, kids. And you know what that means: Mega Emmy Diary time.

Now this is something of special ceremony in my estimation as it is so chock full of new nominees (four alone in each comedic supporting category!) that we're likely to see some surprises and some truly touched performers break through.

So, without further ado, let's see what Jimmy Fallon can do...

5:00 – We start with a backstage shot – one of my favorite things about the Emmys has always been when the person directing the show wins and we get a look at the show being put together as it happens. So, needless...

The Pacific
“The Pacific,” a ten-part miniseries produced by Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman, and Steven Spielberg, chronicles the stories of three real-life World War II Marines across the Pacific Theater of Operations. This epic is based on the memoirs written by Eugene Sledge (portrayed by Joe Mazzello) and Robert Leckie (portrayed by James Badge Dale).

This epic miniseries is not like any other that viewers have seen before. Not only are the stories more compelling, but the actors themselves were immersed in the culture and prepared for months for the roles.

For actors Mazzello and Dale, preparations f...

The Pacific
Steven Spielberg has cast a familiar face in his new World War II mini-series "The Pacific" - he's handed a role to "Jurassic Park" child star Joe Mazzello.

Mazzello was just nine when he was cast as Sir Richard Attenborough's grandson Tim Murphy in the dinosaur adventure.

He then starred in sequel "The Lost World" and a string of other movies before he quit acting to study.

After graduating college, Mazzello picked up where he left off, and, at the age of 27, he has reteamed with Spielberg for The Pacific, in which he plays a soldier.

Mazzello reveals, "Acting was something I always kn...

Tom Hanks Give Us A Preview Of The Pacific
When Tom Hanks made Saving Private Ryan, he put a popular face on a war that seemed like old news to a certain generation. Maybe it helped that he was saving Matt Damon. Now he’s working behind the scenes on war movies, but he’s still the spokesperson for them.

After producing HBO’s Band of Brothers with his Private Ryan director Steven Spielberg, the duo re-teamed to bring HBO The Pacific. If Brothers expanded on the European side of WWII further than a single film could, so too The Pacific tells the story of the Asian battle in 10 parts.

Even as a behind the scenes force, Hanks still se...
