October 4th, 2012 10:08pm EDT
Louise Fletcher
Actress Louise Fletcher can't stand to watch her Oscar-winning turn as the tyrannical nurse in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest because her character was so cruel.

Fletcher picked up the Academy Award for Best Actress for her terrifying portrayal of Nurse Ratched in the 1975 cult classic, starring Jack Nicholson as a patient in a mental asylum.

Despite the acclaim she received for her performance, Fletcher admits she can't bring herself to watch the film due to her character's behavior - especially when she has Nicholson's Randle McMurphy lobotomized.

She tells the Associated Press, "I...

Jack Nicholson's Oscar-winning turn in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest has been voted the greatest movie performance of all time.

A nice rest in a state mental hospital beats a stretch in the pen, right? Randle P. McMurphy (Jack Nicholson), a free-spirited con with lightning in his veins and glib on his tongue, fakes insanity and moves in with what he calls the "nuts" in "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest." Immediately, his contagious sense of disorder runs up against numbing routine. No way should guys pickled on sedatives shuffle around in bathrobes when the World Series is on.

This means war! On one side is McMurphy. On the other is soft-spoken Nurse Ratched (Louise Fletcher), among the most coldly monstrous villai...

Most Memorable Mentally Ill Characters In Film
Just last week the movie "Shutter Island," starring Leonardo DiCaprio and directed by Martin Scorsese, was released in general theaters. Its first weekend was a success, and the film is about two U.S. marshals who come to investigate a special hospital for the criminally insane

when one of their patients go missing. One of the marshals, Teddy (DiCaprio) believes there are nefarious things going on at the hospital and seeks to get answers about possible Nazi human experimentation. This is hardly the first (nor the last) movie to take place at a mental institute or about people with mental...

This is the smartass chick's chick flick with a message. Bette Midler. Goldie ...
